Chris will have yet another stab at becoming a TV star with a celebrity quizshow on Channel 4.

Chris Moyles' Quiz Night, in which he will put his own possessions up as prizes, is his first TV show since Live with Chris Moyles on Channel Five six years ago. Moyles was replaced after one series of the Five talkshow by commercial radio DJ Christian O'Connell.

The Channel 4 head of entertainment, Andrew Newman, said: "Chris Moyles must be the biggest star in Britain without his own TV show and we're very pleased he has decided to change that by doing his own show on Channel 4."

Moyles has recently made guest appearances on a number of Channel 4 shows including Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong Live, Eight Out of 10 Cats and Celebrity Ding Dong, as well as guest presenting E4's Big Brother's Big Mouth.

He said: "I'm very excited to be signing for Channel 4 … especially as no one else offered me any work."

Moyles' eight-part series will be included in Channel 4's winter 2009 season of programming announced today.

Yay!

Is Winter 2009 a couple of months away (ie. January, February) or are we talking December 2009?

Is this the thing he filmed a while ago, he did a pilot thingy didn't he? I don't get it though, he can do work for Channel 4, Fearne can do work for just about anybody yet Dom can't do a simple VO for Gladiators?

I really hope it all goes well for him. I'm sure he wouldn't get involved with a project unless it had a decent set up, it's not as if he needs TV work so I'm guessing he made sure it was a good format before signing given how critical he is of other shows. My biggest hope is that we see more of his style he showed while doing BBBM and less of the style whenever he appears on Children in Need. Actually he was really good on Friday Night Project as well wasn't he.

Is he really the biggest star without a TV show? What does that say about the state of our TV at the moment?

It's probably to do with the fact that Dom is directly employed by the BBC, whereas Moyles and Fearne Cotton are contracted.

Well, I remeber watching his brief stint on Channel5 and liked it, so i'm looking forward to the new show.

At the rate he's going, he might end up being able to turn it into some kind of Cookery/Chat show and rival Gordon & Jamie ;)

His Friday Night Project show was really good. But as for the current state of TV, i don't think it's a reflection that Channel 4 are struggling. I think it's that TV needs something different.

I love that underdog spirit in him - he knows how damn good he is and will respond in kind to anyone who believes in him, just like he did with Radio 1 when Capital didn't put up a fight to keep him there.

This is great news!
I too thought he was good on C5, shame he got screwed.
After watching his stint on bbbm last summer I think he is ready for his own show aGAIN. :D

However, given the plugging he gives for shows which friends of his take part in - and that he likes, can you imagine how much he'll go on about it on air?

He'll be without the team so it'll be a huge litmus test to whether he can crack it on tv.

I hope he does well, although if he's slimmed down from his whole kilamanjaro thing, he'll still be fat(ter) on tv - shame

He's got a good enough relationship with Aaaaaaaaandi Peters and Cheggers not to be completely on his own he can bounce off them.

Anyone got any more info on this. Who's format is it and how much input did Chris have? I can't imagine that it's just pure random chance that Andi and Cheggers are captains?

Saw a trailer for the show the other day, which can be viewed here.

And some behind the scenes footage can be viewed here.

EDIT - Channel 4 have got a little possessive over their YouTube videos and have disabled embedding, sorry.
