Meh - I'm with Moyles on this one, I don't care how much they get for what they do. If I could do what they do as well as they do it I'd get it too - but I can't so I don't.

So because I wanted one person to win over another, that makes me all of the above? See I just don't get that logic. I presume that all those who wanted Hamilton to win..... coincidentally didn't want Massa to win. Do they fit into your weird and wonderful categorisation too?

I shalln't get into a slanging match with you small hand, because I am genuinely dumfounded as to how to respond to such drivel.

Are we not even allowed to have a moderate disagreement anymore? Who needs wrapping in cotton wool to that extent exactly? (I'm assuming that its understood at Admin level that no-one actually listens to Beadle Poke, so his inarticulate ramblings shouldn't cause any concern to anyone).

This thread has made me literally laugh out loud and I almost rolled on the floor laughing too. I find it psychologically very interesting when people appear to completely lose it and go off on someone else on a thread in such a vehement manner, for seemingly no reason whatsoever.

Seriously though, why do people become aggressive in forums? Is it to do with the pent up emotions of their daily lives?

And the passive-aggressive is probably the most interesting of all the phenomena on display, eh tina....?

Indeed. It might very well be. You don't appear to have answered my question though.;)

It's probably a side-effect of the anonymity and lower consequences for doing so - people are (in general) less inhibited.

That may explain a person's overall aggressive state, but I doubt that it's why people become aggressive in forums.

True (although I didn't think it was aimed particularly at me).

Ok - I would imagine that the reason people become aggressive on forums is no different to the reason they might become aggressive in any other circumstances - ie it will vary from person to person, dependant on the individual's character. The advantage of it happening on a forum is that its by neccessity removed from the individual against whom it is targeted - so basically no-one can effectively be hurt. So I would say possibly that a forum is a much better place to vent your aggression than in your real life, because it will ultimately do no harm there. Theoretically.

I believe the phrase "Internet hardman" sums it up best. Someone who couldn't fight sleep, but give them the protection of miles of copper from a punch in the face and suddenly this person is willing to take on anyone, any time.

Being someone who couldn't fight sleep myself, I'm somewhat familiar with the whole thing. Although I tend to save my verbal abuse for morons at the football rather than people on message boards.
