Unless they shock us all and give it to a woman, (a nice idea).. I have heard stuff about Robert Carlysle taking it, that would be good, I think, he's Chris Ecclestone's old 'Cracker' stablemate.

Robert Carlyle was in one story from Cracker - he was terrifyingly good in it as a Scouse psychopath. Brilliant actor, one of my favourites, but I'm not seeing him as Dr Who. My money is still on the black bloke whose name I can't remember.

That'll be him. Still can't remember his name though.

Another black option is another actor whose name I can't remember - he's been in at least one James Bond film, plays a colleague of Bond called (I think) Charles something. He's got a great look for the part I reckon.

If they want to revert to type though, how about Jonas Armstrong? Apparently the next series of Robin Hood is going to be the last, so he might be interested?

Have absolutely no problem with Tennant regenerating into a Black or Asian actor at all, although no doubt the Daily Heil will moan about Political correctness gone mad. I just wish people would look past the skin colour & look at the actors acting ability instead.

As for a woman though, no, I'm not been sexist at all but The Doctor is quite clearly a male Time lord. There was female Time lords (reffered to in one Story with Romana II as a Time Lady) Romana, The Rani & the lady on Gallifrey (whose name escapes me at the moment) in The Invasion Of Time.

If anything bring back Romana, they could do it, afterall last time she was seen in Warriors' Gate, she was left in E-Space, she could have missed the whole time war & made her way back.

You can tell I'm a fan of this show can't you

I agree - no preference as to what skin colour or racial origin the Doctor has - but he is a He.

I wonder if they'll be looking for someone with a long term commitment in mind? The Doctor's gonna run out of regenerations soon, and there's no other Time Lords around to get him more like the Master.

You mean you don't watch it anyway?! 8O Do you Americans not get it? Too clever and ironic for you? ;)

I've watched it two or three times and thought that it was absolute rubbish and a complete waste of my time! Irony and cleverness sorely lacking. Perhaps you're watching a different programme or are just an undemanding viewer who needs to be more discriminating about what activities you choose in your spare time? Pick up a book! ;)

I thought you weren't that bothered about Doctor Who?

I'm not geeky about it in the way that some people - for example Bruvva - are however I do watch it. Even watching it under duress it is a better show than most of the dross that comes from the States. I still miss Tom Baker, Romana and K9!
#364418
I don't watch it, but I would like it to be a black doctor and then I would like Markool89 to come back so we can question him about it. And Oliver the racist, for that matter.

Coming from the woman that'll watch that, that's funny. I was going to ask if you're blind and deaf but seeing as how you just called me 'young', I believe my question has already been answered. Silly!

I think he'd be a good choice, with Big Suze (pictured wirh Paterson Joseph for those who don't watch peep show) as a companion :D

I wondered as well because before she was shown I imagined it would by a chubby girl when she clearly isn't. A search on Wikipedia doesn't give a reason for the name either. Perhaps someone on here can shed some light, I've only seen bits of it so I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in the past.

Michael Caine would be good. As would Johnny Depp or that Harry Potter Bloke.

Ooh Helen Mirren would good. And Robbie Coltraine would be a cracker!

Also, she played the older version of Susan in the Chronicles of Narnia film (in the final scene). Coincidence?
