According to the BBC, the odds are:

Paterson Joseph - 3-1
David Morrisey - 5-1
James Nesbitt - 6-1
John Simm - 8-1

I'd like to see Bill Bailey or Richard E Grant doing it - but they are both highly unlikely!

Comedy Dave Vitty should at least get a look in after his stellar performance in the radio 1 vids from the set.

"WOW!"

This is where Yudster tells us what a bad person he is. Wait for it. She will!

No, you should all know by now. But if he was Dr Who I wouldn't watch.

What about Russell Brand? I think he'd be really good - and he's available, I hear.......

He played the Doctor in 'Scream of the Shalka', but it wasn't canon, so that really shouldn't matter. I also seem to remember him being one of the regenerations in the Atkinson spoof.

I was disappointed when Christopher Eccleston left as I really liked his Doctor, but then David Tennant raised the bar again. I'd love to think that will happen again this time, but somehow I doubt it.

I'm actually surprised David Tennant has chucked it. I thought he might have been the one to threaten Tom Baker's record time as Doctor. He even said that if he didn't leave now he'd be there forever. Forever suits me!

Can't say I'm too impressed with any of the candidates mentioned on the BBC article that TIAL mentioned.

I had to google the first two!

James Nesbit & John Simm are too old!

How about Rhys Ifans - that would liven things up a bit!

He has indeed. It's been done before too, with Martha Jones. Anyway, something as simple as him playing another character in one episode wouldn't stop them anyway

I say we go back to older doctors. So I'm going for Stephen Fry, John Hurt or Ralph Feinnes. Or for female doctors. Penelope Keith, Felicity Kendal or Joanna Lumley.

No, he is revolting - he is one of those people who looks as though he really really smells bad, and no amount of washing would do away with it. Yuck.

To be fair though Tennant is a great actor, as is Tom, but Tom really did have trouble finding work for a while after he left in 1981 as he was too associated with being The Doctor, he himself says that as far as he's concerned he still is the Doctor

I think Tennant has been offered Broadway as Hamlet is going on tour & although I believe it must have been a tough decision he would have been a fool not to have taken that once in a lifetime opportunity.

Stephen Fry would be an excellent choice, I could definately see him as the Doctor. Shame his script for Doctor Who never got completed.

I would love to see Stephen Fry as the Doctor, but I reckon the politically correct BBC will give it to the black bloke who's name I can't remember but has been linked with the role.
