The Dutch have beaten us 1-0 in the hockey, so it's all over for our men (not sure if we're still in the ladies?) David Price, our Super Heavyweight is about to box a Russian fella I think.

Well that was something of a turnaround.. Price was 2-0 down after the first round, I took a phone call and by the time I got back to my screen, he'd knocked the guy out!

It's Jamie Murray I feel sorry for.

Tennis shouldn't be in the Olympics, nor should football or basketball. If an Olympic gold medal isn't the highest prize the sport can offer, then it shouldn't be there.

I agree with that. However, if they did what boxing did and only offered places to amateur participants, that would be better.

Football does something like that. Its mainly under 23s, but then they spoil it by allowing you a certain number of overage players.

Mind you, even if you scrapped that part you'd still have arguably the best player in the world playing for Argentina - Lionel Messi is still under 23.

That's not amateurs though, loads of players under the age of 23 are professional.

Not a great day in terms of medals and finals today, but we've got Emms and Robertson to cheer on in the badminton, another boxer (haven't they done well! OK Billy Joe Saunders is out, but we've still got a strong contingent there) and Mark Foster's swimming soon as well.

Plus, the weekend is round the corner and we can expect lots of lovely medals..

I know this is now a triple post but that's everyone else's fault for not posting.

Anyway.. Mark Foster is now out, having finished sixth in his 50m freestyle heat. Badminton is about to start and Bradley Saunders is on in the boxing.

No he's not, I was watching a replay of the Jefferys match...

1-0 down and 5-7 down in the badminton.. Rebecca Adlington, however, has swum the 800m freestyle in the second fastest time ever, eclipsing the rest of the field and setting a new Olympic record!

Get in Becky!

Eh... that wasn't an order by the way.

Germany are playing table tennis now, which means Tim Boll (who Foot-loose likes) is on.

...and that's Bradley Saunders out. I think he was a bit unlucky, I think he landed punches that didn't get scored to be honest.

Topher, can you not just save your round up til the end of the day? That way you'd stop this quadruple-posting lark.

The Scouse ex-swimmer who does the radio commentary and joins Hazel Irvine for the evening TV show is really good. Last night, he said that missing out on qualification for the 4x200 freestyle relay (through no fault of her own) would mean that Becky Adlington would be "Super Angry-Pants". Its a better name than Becky Adlington, and I think it should be universally adopted for her.

So what you actually mean Munki is "Get in Super Angry-Pants"!

Haha, I heard him say 'Super Angry-Pants' as well.

I have to say that although it was a *, resting two of our best swimmers, they knew it was a gamble.. they clearly wanted to guarantee a medal once we had got into the final, but we don't have a massive collection of world class swimmers like the Americans and they should have realised that. Never under-estimate your opposition.

Look, I know I'm not supposed to be over-posting in here, but what an event the Team Sprint was! I went home to watch the final on the big screen over lunch... we broke the world record in the qualifying, were the fastest team again in the heat and the gold medal race, what a race! Suffice to say.. our third gold!

Nice to see the French fella being gracious and congratulating our lads.

No more now until the end of the day. Promise.

You remind me of the guy sat next to me at work. During lunch times he sits there and reads out EVERY story on the BBC website.... "oh, did you hear this, oooh... look at this.... hey look what we've done in this".

He seems oblivious to the fact that everyone else in the office has the same access to the internet (and BBC) as him.

Our MD put the team sprint on in the board room :D

Bronze race was really, really tight. Made our race look like a scoosh.
