While looking at the memberlist and the top 20 posters, I noticed there was someone called Tom Murphy who has over 1000 posts, but I've never heard of him. When trying to find all posts by Tom_Murphy it claims that no posts meet my criteria. Can someone explain?

no Tom Murphy is considered to be a legend. He was here around 2000/ early 2001 and instigated the post race between him and Jonny to get 1000 posts first. The reason why none of his post come up in the search is because its so long since hes posted. Check my profile, i may have over 4400 posts but if you do a search posts for me theres far less because after a while the system is too jammed. Ask Trash & Jonny for more.

Tom was ace, legend was the right word. He went travelling all over the world and posted from bizzarre places, but after he came back we heard no more of him. Tom won that post race didn't he?

I've been here ages too now, since about october 1999 I think, maybe even longer. Started posting in my second year of uni I think. Just can't leave the place but as you can see from my post tally, I don't post that often. Most would say that was a godsend! ha ha. I remember the good old days of Murphy only too well. Can't say I was a fan of the Post wars though...not at all!

Is it not also something to do with the fact that the server/system/whatever changed not long ago, so old thread, posts, etc aren't on record? :?

I seriously doubt post count migrates from one board system to another. If this board has been here longer than the last post on page 75 of the General forum, then that explains it. - jc

The board has gone through many different changes over the years so posts are bound to get lost and who really wants to read all the posts they have ever made.

I just found the link that Chris posted from ages ago that showed the OLD OLD message board (we're talking pre-murphy here) but it no longer works. Any chance of reinstating it Chris, even for a short space of time?

phpBB allows the administrator to make a backup of the database for the board so if Chris was using the same system back then and moved the database across the post-count would still stand. Obviously if he switched from a different system to phpBB then the information would be lost...

It got zapped. It's still archived somewhere but is a bit too much trouble to bring back.

It wasn't phpBB until reasonably recently.

One more thing, if this tom murphy bloke is considered a legend of yesteryear, why does it say he signed up on the 22 Jan this year?
