The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Yuds is right. Salesman are worth their weight in gold. You need to cut your hair every 4 weeks, on work time, and Polish your Brogues every day, you also need to find the attraction of wearing cuff links, and know all the Model numbers of BMW's. You also need to be unable to forecast, or plan, and enjoy Travel Lodge accommodation, you will also probably have a Wife who earns considerably more than you, but normally working for a Family business.
I went to a sales meeting after painting some Damp resistant paint on a wall in a flat, and could not scrub it off, we didn't get the sale.....
I also know what you mean about the standards you would keep in production being different to how you appeared. Perhaps you should have gone in your whites as people often seem impressed with this ( However I am with you in that if you did this, you would be showing that you did not understand the basics of Hygiene by wearing protective clothing in a non controlled environment, but then obviously none of the Dragon understood this anyway)

At the end of the day reggae sauce is being made in a factory where the chap has no control over it, except sales and marketing and product development, he sold the stuff, and he isn't making it. He was smart and had personality, I think the later would have enabled the Dragons to gloss over the wet pits, but you need a "hook" to get anything new out there.

I am available to prepare detailed business plans, Quality Management systems, and Cash flows for the appropriate fee if you so wish ?

Seriously Martin, PM boboff, he knows what he is talking about and can give you a LOT of help. Really a lot. If you're prepared to listen that is.

And he built his own business from nothing, and made it good, and sold it and got very rich! He's your man Martin, he's been there and done it.

I have absolutely no doubt this is true, but I dislike them immensely (in general.)

Why viv, because people other than you are enjoying it?

No! I have no right to prevent others from enjoyment! It's more the fact it seems to be going round and round in circles, and I can't see Martin changing his mind in any way somehow! :-)

As is his right and privilege, and by any ones definition you would surely be the prime exponent of such an attitude.

wow, what an interesting read this thread has been, Ive known Martin and Sue for a number of years and thought I'd see the forum that he mentioned. Its quite a strange feeling to read other peoples views on your friends and quite hurtful at times, you get alot of emotions, but all that aside, putting aside petty grammer and poking fun at appearances I hope Martin got to let off some steam and collect his thoughts again and recover from this episode in his life which has affected him so. I'm sure he's learned a few things about people and it all helps, as far as his product and his character goes, I have no doubt he will do well. He is a lovely honest chap who is turning his love and passion for food creation into his industry and I wish him and Sue all the best in achieving that success. Martin, I'll see you next weekend and give you a great big hug..and I'm sure you won't be sweaty!

I say send me a sample packet, I'l buy a packet from my local supermarket as close to what martin is selling as possible and I'll get a friend to conduct a blind taste test to see if I can deduce which is the better and whether all the arguing is over anything good.

I'm not fussy what I put in my mouth really so I don't care.

That was my impression of him: Kind face (sympathetic)... if he could just tone down the red shock of hair a bit, it would be good! That was thing I first noticed, not the sweat patches!! (under studio lights, we would all be soaking, I should think!).

Viv, the point is that the others looked far more presentable and had been under the same studio lights.

Dragon's Den is back on tonight for a new series, so I thought I'd resurrect this thread (rather than make a new one).

I'm looking forward to it, and it was nice to hear an interview with Theo Fajitas this morning.

Edit - I didn't realise this was in the 'General' section, maybe someone might want to move it to Ramble...

He is decidedly tasty, its true.

I enjoyed the two wide boys with their water machine, that was hilarious. And I thought the Events company would surely have been better going with Theo and Peter rather than Duncan and James, that decision seemed strange.

I thought the water machine was fantastic but their pitch wasn't up to standards. However, it's definitely worth pursuing as I didn't even know that technology existed and it'd be great in 3rd world countries.
They should have flushed the machine out because the dragons were always going to be harsh and judge the taste of the water - many machines like that need a good flush-though first so I don't think it was entirely their fault.

The temperature was all wrong, because it (the machine) had been set up for a while ... the water was supposed to be 4 degrees and it was 20.
