The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Fearne Cotton, who is "Glamour" magazine's presenter of the year 2008, has said,

"When you're a presenter, unlike an actress, because you are being yourself, people assume they know you. They're: 'How are you?' And I think, 'Do I know you?' But it's nice".

So.... this leads me on to the following question.... how would you cope with being in the public eye? Do you feel you would handle the pressure well? Having to smile where you don't want to? Would you rather remain hidden away/anonymous? etc., etc.

Having spent most of my life in the public eye it's not all it's cracked up to be. I can barely go to dinner at my favourite Pizza hut without someone asking for my autograph or wanting their picture taken with me...I mean it's nice and all that and without them I wouldn't be where I am today but sometimes I just want a normal life. I mean when it comes down to it I just want to eat my dinner in peace. I don't want to have hoards of Paparazzi hanging outside my front door just to take a picture of me when I nip to the shops to buy a pint of milk.

I'm not quite sure how I would feel about it. I think I'd like to help someone in the public eye, but leave it at that. :-)

My mum's nextdoor neighbour may end up in the public eye (on a very minor scale), if anyone actually watches the programme she's done.

Women of the Tribe. She spent a month in Ecuador with a tribe. It's on this month I think, we're all watching it on the big screen in the pub and taking the piss mercilessly out of her.

That's her (on the right.)

No. She's not married.

I love the expression on the other woman's face......you really don't ever want anyone to ever look at you quite like that, do you?!

I see famous people all the time, its no biggie, they're just like you or me, wanna be left in peace (from experience) they keep themselves to themselves, and I respect that, its how they like it.

Sometimes. Some can be surprising - one of the most sensible, reasonable, non-up-themselves peopla I have ever had the pleasure to deal with in the course of my work was Victoria Beckham. Seeing as the issue we needed to discuss is one which often sends "normos" into a complete self-righteous tailspin of fury I was very surprised that she dealt with it all so intelligently. And dealt with it herself!

However the opposite can also be true - I have been unfortunate to witness some absolutely revolting Diva type behaviour from people who have lovely, friendly and well-liked public images. If you could see for instance how lovely, friendly Irish cheeky-chappie James Nesbitt treats "ordinary" people when the cameras and microphones are switched off a lot of people may change their opinions of him. And that's not an uncommon phenomenon.

It's well known by those that know it well that Yuds is a lapdancer. She "entertains" many private clients.

Heh - I think I'd rather be a madam. More lucrative I reckon. And it would suit my personality better.

I also have encountered quite a few through my work. And would agree it is very hit and miss!

Nice story I heard; my sister was working for a PR firm and was handing out back stage passes. She was sitting on the floor trying to untangle about 200 passes when who sits down to help her out??? Dermot O' Leary. He insisted that he wouldn't leave until she was sorted. Throughout he was chatty and friendly.

Unsurprisingly my sister fell a bit in love with him!!!

That's such a shame about James Nesbit being a bit of an arse, I would've thought he'd be a great guy, judging by interviews on Moyles, and the kind of image he puts across. Just goes to show. Frank Bruno was absolutely horrible, and the opposite of what you may have thought. A real snappy, nasty man. That was before his mental illness was diagnosed, so maybe that may have played a part.

Nope there was only the one. There was another I had little time for but on the whole they were lovely.
