If they allowed him to do that it would be ridiculous. The fact you can't be bothered to turn up for an exam on time is surely a reflection on what grade you should be getting anyway.

I know timp acknowledged it was his own fault, but viverio seems to think he should be able to resit it.

Bearing in mind that timp says the whole thing was merely "annoying", I assumed he did the exam anyway, just had a half hour less than everyone else. If he had actually had to miss the exam surely it would have been a bit more serious than "annoying".

Sometimes they let you have the extra half hour anyway. Well, when I was late they said I could have the extra time if I needed it but I didn't.

Again, that's ridiculous in my opinion. It's up to you to ensure you're at the exam on time and if you can't do that it's your own fault.

It wasn't my fault. The bus was 40 minutes late, and I had to phone the school and let them know. Lateness does my head in but sometimes it can't be helped.

Agreed. My son missed an appointment yesterday because the bus (which would have got him there 45 minutes earlier than he needed to be there) simply didn't turn up. Public transport is a joke.

Indeed. Its been ages since a bus has actually turned up on time for me. I tend to be late a lot now, cause buses just don't turn up or are stupidly late.

Ah in that case it's excusable, public transport is indeed a joke.

If your bus is consistently late then I would advise catching an earlier bus to ensure you get there on time. I have cashiers tell me that excuse all the time and it doesn't wash with me then and it won't wash with me
now.

I get the second bus of the morning, well I try to, but it never turns up. The first bus is at 7.10, and the second at 8.10. I'm not gonna sit outside my school for an hour and a half just ensure I'm there early, I'd rather just turn up slightly late.

That's exactly what he was doing. He had two options - getting there 45 minutes early, of getting there ten minutes early. He chose 45 minutes early and the bus didn't turn up. The one that should have got him there 10 minutes early was then 30 minutes late. Public transport really IS a joke.

It's a ottery here. If you inside the "town line" then the service is regular and reliable. If you are outside the line, you go on to "rural service" which basically means they'll send a haycart along a couple of times a day if they feel like it.

And yes, I meant lottery. Although an Ottery sounds quite fun.

It does. A conservation place for otters, perhaps.

Seconded! I hate that excuse when used time and time again! If it's a one off that's okay but if it's a constant thing then it's your responsibility to get to work/school on time so get an earlier bus.

Andy I started taking their time off their breaks or made them work the time after their allotted time had finished, that soon made them get there on time!

Yes correct, although they gave me the full time to complete the exam, which is why it was merely 'annoying'.

Haha. I actually think the amount of revision you did should be a reflection of the grade you should be getting. After all everyone makes mistakes sometimes. (Although admittedly quite a big mistake, I do agree there)
Besides the exam was a resit in itself anyway. (Maths A Level viverio)

I think that's ludicrous. That gives higher grades to the harder workers, rather than the more intelligent people and while that may be OK in an ideal world, this is far from an ideal world and some thick feckers who try hard would be getting As. The grades would mean far less than they do.

I am slightly bandaged again: been for more blood tests at the doctor's today!! I'm having 4 different samples sent away, and will have the results after 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

Annoying me today and generally everyday: having nothing to do at work, which then leads to me being bored shitless to the point of wanting to either fall asleep or count the ceiling tiles.

What's making it worse is the fact that I'm currently being forced to listen to the office hyenas talk about Big Brother 9.

That's a bit pedantic isn't it? Most intelligent people need to do lots of revision to make sure they get the grades they need. I was not suggesting that thick people should achieve higher grades than intelligent people. Obviously it goes without saying that really intelligent people need to do less revision. However, in this day and age, it would be right for them to do the maximum amount of revision they can, in order to achieve the highest marks possible (as University's like Oxford or Cambridge look at the UMS score, not just the grade.)

I'm not suggesting intelligent people don't revise at all, I'm just saying that if you base grades on the amount of revision that gets done (which is going to be extremely difficult to prove, by the way), then you get into all sorts of areas where less intelligent people get higher grades, which obviously isn't right.
