The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Taking the piss out of morons is something I do everyday and never tire of....it helps me deal with my own inscurities and lack of emotional development stemming from problems I had as a child. Children can be so cruel.

or overly sensitive

I dont go out of my way to offend people but will more than happily crack a joke at someone elses expense as I know most poeple would do the same to me

e.g. yesterday at work I got told by one of my colleagues that someone had been off with a problem with a certain pert of a males anatomy but was a bit embarrased and didnt want to tell his manager why he had been off, to which I replied "well I guess it probably a sore point"

But also yesterday I accidentily forwarded on a private email from my girlfriend to my whole team at work

you just have to take the rough with the smooth

its all fun and games

I'm currently uploading the video to a file sharing service for those who missed it, but it's going to take a long time (it's nearly 500MB).

Anyone record the first half an hour?
I didn't get the first 1/2 hour as I was scrambling to find something to record Realplayer streams, but I have everything from about 07:00 onwards.

That's f***ing brilliant! And exactly the kind of stuff I say at work too.

To people I know.

I don't know any of you. Yet.

I've only got from the first record onwards, I missed the first 10/15 minutes. Luckily, I already had something to download rtsp streams with.

Can you share it?

Thx.

Anyone would think that the "blip" in Tuesdays best bits video was put there deliberately so geeks like us could figure out what they were planning to do so we could be ready for it!

Sure. I'll either try clipping the whole thing (to remove the songs and hopefully halve the filesize), or just clip the first half-an-hour or so off and upload that here.

neilt0 wrote:And Hello, Mr. 11,000 posts.

Hello. What you have failed to notice and / or mention is that I have been around here since 2002, which (in my opinion) is ample time to clock up such a post count. You will also note that others have a reasonably similar post count, having been here a much smaller amount of time. My post count means bugger all to me, you appear to be the one who is mentioning it.

neilt0 wrote:What I find most ridiculous is that feel you have to pick up on a newbie's spelling or grammar or sentence structure but fail to look at the idea of either talking about the thread topic (live video of the Chris Moyles show for the first time ever FFS), or my offer of spending 3 and a half hours recording the stream and sharing it for others who may have missed it or who are overseas and can't ever see it.

That is indeed a generous offer. Threads, however, rarely stay on topic round here. You'll get used to it.

neilt0 wrote:I don't want you to fawn, but I tell you what, it's going to put people off when you spend a good proportion of your 10,000+ posts picking holes, whining or taking the piss.

It's called having a banter, it's why a lot of people come here. Why should the nature of the place change because a few visitors don't like it when there are plenty of other places they could go to get their fix of nicey-nicey forums.

neilt0 wrote:Give that a few goes and maybe n00bs will stay around.
But maybe don't actually want that, you'd rather keep the forum closed off to newbies?

Not at all.

neilt0 wrote:It seems like every post that talks about the show eventually gets diverted in to some personal or irrelevant topic or is filled with your own in-jokes. Fine in the off-topic forum, but can you leave it there?

Again, you will see that threads rarely stay on-topic, whichever forum they're in. Such is life.

What he said.

See, I like it when things go off topic... I believe it's called having a conversation which is one of the many reasons why I visit this lovely place on a daily basis.

It does seem like an unnatural restriction to put on a discussion, this idea that it isn't allowed to go anywhere other than down a very narrow pre-defined pathway. A lot of forums are really strict about that kind of stuff though, maybe neilt0 is used to sites which are more heavily moderated.

Boo hiss... I prefer the way this forum works. It's so laid back, and I especially like the way MOST people on here can have a jolly good laugh.

Jesus, some people need to lighten up. At the end of the day, we're here because we like the Moyles Man and if having a giggle and putting up with some witty banter comes along with it then so be it. I love it here.

Don't get sidetracked with the "off-topic" part of my rant

Here's how the forum looks to new people:

n00b: "Hey, I've just joined and I wonder if anyone's noticed interesting fact about X"
regular1: "You twat. We covered this topic in discussion 1,423 page 3"
regular2: "whiff whaff. banana. whumpflip"
regular3: "n00b should be killed"
.
.
n00b: "Blimey."
regular4: "Why are people so SENSITIVE? LIGHTEN UP! whiffle banana wibble fleeb, Oh I'm so clever"

n00b deletes account.

If you keep having to ask over and over "Why are you n00bs being sensitive?" maybe you could realise it's not actually the n00b's problem.

Or if you're an UM reject - for example Iain_Smith and Viv.

Only the idiots. Some new people aren't idiots and are welcomed with open arms; some regulars are idiots and are just as ridiculed.

You play as well? Are you any good?

neilt0 wrote:If you keep having to ask over and over "Why are you n00bs being sensitive?" maybe you could realise it's not actually the n00b's problem.

Again, the reasonable ones realise it's just a bit of banter and some stay because they enjoy this.

Look, my comment was a harmless observation, which (I thought) was very inoffensive. You need to get off your high horse a bit and you'll get along fine.

I personally think if you're going to get involved in a comunity you should try to learn a bit about it's workings before you start trying to add to it....saves a lot of hassle that way...the people who last here are the one's who "get" it. Just like Chris.

I get "it" but I dont "get" it!

I think the best attitude to come on this forum with is a i listen to the Chris Moyles Show and like sarcasm kinda attitude

otherwise you're done for Viv!
