Wow, some exciting revalations about stevenage there...(but not something i would know or be interested in checking out due to an 'incompatability' with 'sport'

Doesnt MK have that huge waterstones.
Poor Ottakars....
Atleast some of them have coffee making facilities - always a plus.

Our Ottakers got taken over by Waterstones, but we still have the Costa above it so I don't care.

We never had an Ottokars here, but whats the difference? What did Ottokars offer that Waterstones doesn't? Surely you go into a bookshop to buy books. What is Waterstones doing wrong in that respect exactly?

Ottakars was more sort of 'family' but not in the sense that Butlins is 'family' orientated but in the sense that they had big comfy chairs you could slouch in as you chatted to the staff about various books, and everyone knew eachother. I dont know, ottakars was just a bit more 'cosy' where as Waterstones walks around with 'franchise' stamped firmly on its forehead.
Yes both are bookshops, but they are different in subtle ways us book lovers appreciate.
