If you have the time (and the inclination!), you can take part in an R1 interactive patchwork of pictures.

Go to Jo's page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/jowhiley - Then you have to see where you can spot Jo (wearing a distinctive stripey jumper) within all the pictures!! There are 9 in total. :-)

It requires a plugin for Microsoft's 'rich internet application', Silverlight. Basically, it's MS' attempt to overthrow Flash and take control of the web (again). I, for one, will never be installing it, although I never installed Flash either.

I like the big zoomy thing, it's an interesting concept that photo dimensions are now a thing of the past.

I hear that online newspapers are thinking of implementing it - if you want to read something in more detail you can simply zoom in to a tiny text box on the side of the article. There was a youtube video about it, but I can't find it.

So on-line newspapers may be implementing the big zoomy thing. Thanx for the information, Tial. :-)

It's a proprietary plugin, for which no native version is available for my AMD64 machine, used primarily for crappy animations and adverts. The few advantages I've ever seen from Flash have been far outweighed by the bugginess and the annoyances.
