If YOU had a chance to choose songs for the "Golden Hour", which songs would be among those on your list?

Amongst my choices would be:-

1. Mr Blue Sky - ELO.
2. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor.
3. Good Riddance - Green Day.
4. Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack.
5. Friday, I'm In Love - The Cure.
6. Like A Prayer - Madonna.
7. Straight Back Down To Earth - Curiosity Killled The Cat. :-)

Good choice, ELO, though I'd substitute that particular song for 'The Way Life's Meant to Be', or 'Ma Ma Ma Belle'.

  • ELO - 'The Way Life's Meant to Be'
  • Queen - One of a few, maybe 'Killer Queen' or 'Fat Bottomed Girls'
  • Andrew WK - 'Party Hard'
  • Mike + the Mechanics - 'The Living Years'
  • Human League - 'Together in Electric Dreams'
  • Ugly Kid Joe - 'Cat's in the Cradle'
  • A - 'Starbucks'
  • Green Day - 'Welcome to Paradise'
  • Marilyn Manson - 'The Beautiful People'
  • Kate Bush - 'Wuthering Heights'

Good choice Zoot, I forgot that.

Zoot wrote:Polly - Nirvana

Another good choice, though if I were going for a Nirvana track, I'd either choose 'The Man Who Sold the World', 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night' or perhaps one of the Meat Puppets covers from the Live and Unplugged album, 'Lake of Fire' maybe.

The unplugged album is my favourite nirvana album of all time. That album alone taught me how to play the guitar from scratch.

I've not actually heard the GnR version - does it still have the cod-reggae bit in the middle? :D

You know what, I can't remember. It's very good though - not too far off the original but different at the same time. You should have a listen.

Excellent call, Ms. Lottie. I can't believe I forgot Bob Marley, although personally I think I'd go with One Love or Three Little Birds over Could You Be Loved.
