Chappers and Dave work so well together, I remember last time I listened to them they went of the air for some reason and after coming back on Dave says " Oh It seems you all went through a big tunnel there " CLASSIC.

I also think they are good entertainment together.

I reckon it's part of what makes the CM show a success, in that you have presenters who are genuine friends and not just professional colleagues. This makes the exchanges and banter so much more natural and spontaneous, and this comes across on the radio.

It increases the feeling that you are simply listening to a group of mates as they would be down the pub, because basically that is exactly what it is. The perfect recipe, IMHO

I have never understood the use of IMHO. Does it imply that ones O isn't always H? What would be the point in offering a disH O in the first place? Am I being naive in assuming that when people give their Os they are in fact their HOs, or should I only assume that the O is H if actually stated?

It's euphemistic, similar to "if you ask me...", "unless I'm mistaken...", and so on. Most European languages have a variety of these kind of expressions, but English even more so. Some would argue that they are clichés, others that they are a contributing factor to the richness of the language. Whatever our opinion of them, none of them stand up to the literal analysis that you have tried to apply. If they did, they wouldn't be euphemisms in the first place.

It depends on whether you take the 'H' to be honest or humble. If the former, you are correct, there is no point to it (which is why some people omit the 'H'), but if the latter then it isn't necessarily pointless; although, the antonym of the 'H' ('C') should generally be used if that is the intent.

Actually, to be fair Yudster I think it was either you or me, depending on how you look at it. You questioned the use of the acronym, and I'm the one who used it in the first place. Vivienne just expressed an appreciation of it. :)

How do you know that I'm not?

I thought you were - hence the conspiratorial "psssst"!

No need to be sorry, Viv seems to do that arbitrarily to people - it's one of her many insane quirks.
