Is anyone happy with the fact that Zane Lowe will be in Brekkie? And with the fact that we have to listen to Moyles & team on tape tomorrow?

I'm not ... a worse choice than Zane Lowe I cannot imagine. :-(

If he dares ask, "Who's on board?", I'm gonna jump ship!!

I personally couldnt care less as, hopefully, i will still be in bed. Tomorrow i wont though but probably wont be able to listen so again, couldnt care less. Besides, i like the Christmas day show, well, what i listened to anyway, and that was recorded previously.

I know the Xmas stuff was recorded.. that's why I wound up on R2 for the day. At least the DJ was live.

Yeah, I have to say the prospect of Zane on breakfast doesn't fill me with joy. I'll probably put some of one of this week's Moyles shows on listen again whilst I get ready (cos some of us still have to work!)

I'll think about you at work (lies back, sipping drinks :-))!!

Zane this morning was dire, and talk about tension between him and Chris M.

Pretty much, Bonanz., although I should have heard it all before.

I didn't hear much of Zane this morning, but what I did hear sounded like he had been on the coffee solidly for about three hours.

I dunno, he could be quite good as a one off - ill give it a shot at some point. Unlikely that it will be live though - sorry Viv.

That's the annoying thing about him, foots... the caffeine-crazed side. It's all too much.

I quite like the idea of a "highlights" show tomorrow, I will probably listen to at least some of it, I reckon it'll be great. I like Zane in the evenings but I'm not sure I'll cope in the morning though.

Dick & Dom aren't great either. Check the lie-in on Sunday. I wish Vernon would come back, you know.

That's pretty stupid.

why? :? :? Because I don't feel some bizarre need to listen to a whole load of stuff I have already heard.

I think it was a bank holiday, you didn'tmiss much, just 3 hours of their whiney, annoying voices making crap jokes

Viv, you said it's "pretty much" true that you'd not listen solely because it was recorded. That's pretty stupid.

Hang on. If you read Viv's posts it's farily clear that for her the whole experience of listening to the radio is an interactive one - she likes to be involved, she texts in, she plays along with stuff, she likes to feel like she is part of the show as it happens. That (it seems to me - sorry if I'm getting all this wrong Viv!) is a large part of what she enjoys about listening to the radio. So obviously she's not going to get that same enjoyment from a recorded show, even if the content is still funny. It's only half the package for Viv.

Seems fair enough to me.

No I agree with Viv on that one. I listen to Moyles for spontaneity and knowing it's live and will be about something that would have happened in the last few days. It's not quite the same for me.

I was expecting a few of the specialist shows to be pre-recorded too, but from the way Zane was talking last night, it seems it'll be live.

I didn't hear the Zane Lowe interview (may listen again later), but Zane Lowe on breakfast sounds interesting radio so I think I will be tuning in.
I admire his passion for radio 1 and the music he plays, so I don't mind this caffeine charged enthusiasm he portrays.

As for the live radio debate I LOVE live radio for, as Jono says, the spontaneity which is what Moyles does best, Mills less so, sorry Jono! However, I never text in and even if I did, they would never get read out, so is my luck most if the time.

Viv you seem to get an incredible amount of shout-outs....What's your secret?! Do you have the studio's private number?

You have to remember that while Moyles has about 8million listeners he gets (according to Aled) about 5000 texts a day (not taking into acount when they ask for them to be sent in), that's only just over 0.05% now most other DJ's don't have anywhere near those figures so weekend breakfast for example may only get 1million listeners. That's less than 500 texts so the chances are significantly higher of getting one read out. Also you have to make sure your text makes good radio. Keep it short and concise with as little editing requires as possible. I also listen to the Geoff Show on Virgin and get my texts read out almost every time I send them.

Oh and I had a text read out by Dave earlier this year so it's not impossible.

I've had one text read out that got a laugh from the whole team. Made my day, it did.

I can't wait for Zane on Monday - I like him about the same as I like Moyles!
I think his enthusiasm and passion is what makes it - although I realise this polarises people. Who wants a new music DJ who isn't passionate about his music?
