The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I love Chris as Much as the next man but, why on earth couldn't he butt out and let Dave and Chappers take the glory for all the incredibly hard work they put into their Sport Relief challenge?
You could see it coming a mile off (no pun intended). He hated the fact that the boys were getting some well deserved attention and had to muscle in there. I was annoyed enough, but after watching him on Sport Relief on Friday night, standing there taking every last ounce of credit for the whole challenge...I was FUMING! I know a fair few of you agree too after seeing similar comments on other threads.
Now I'm no athlete, but, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that running in your living room on a treadmill (unsupervised and without proof no less) is a hell of a lot easier than running mile after mile in all kinds of horrible weather, then getting back in the car, driving a hundred or so miles, getting out and doing it again and again.
At the end of the day, I suppose the most important thing is that a lot of money was raised for charity, but I just can't stand glory takers. You didn't see Scott Mills trying to steal all the credit from Chappers.
Chappers and Dave, you made a lot of people very proud...WELL DONE BOYS.
Chris, I'm so sad to say this but you came across as a very childish little boy.

Normally I would be slating someone for saying something like this...but I have to admit you have a certain point.

I have to say though, I was not fuming that he was taking some credit and his psychological motives never crossed my mind.

At the end of the day, the cash is the most important thing in this, and he probably DID help raise a lot more, being the most popular nationally, out of the three.

You can probably blame Davina for that though, she's the one that said 'Chris, you're the spokesman, give us soome words' or something like that, so he was kind of put on the spot,

But then, he could have stepped back and let Chappers & Dave say something too

I also agree to a degree, on Thursday's show when he was saying it was "Chappers, Dave and Chris" it did kind of annoy me. As much as I love the guy, that wasn't his domain, and he had not right to attempt to claim it.

I think it started off being something that he wanted to do for himself, but then the challenge became to keep up with them and I also think he did incredibly well.. as he said, he's an 18 stone bloke who ran 33 miles in a week and that ain't to be sniffed at. I think his is an achievement to be proud of (as are Chappers' and Dave's.)

I'm sure Chappers and Dave didn't mind.

It was a little disappointing I agree OP. Whilst he was the driving force and his show probably helped raise a fair amount of the money, it was disappointing for him to do all the talking and make it look like he'd been touring the country this week.

Chris only did a few London clubs and did the rest on a treadmill. Chappers and Dave broadcasted on each R1 show for a week, toured the country, and did football grounds with little rest. They met the public and posed for photographs and deserved a lot more credit on that show than they got.

But Timp you sum it up quite well, without Chris fronting it and supporting them, they'd not have raised the money.

Don't forget though that Chappers and Dave aren't that well known outside of Radio1 but Chris Moyles is. He's got the bigger profile of the three so he makes better tv fodder. Also let's not forget that he dan pretty much the same distance they did and it was a last minute decision on his part so he couldn't just pack up the whole team for a week and broadcast around the country on such short notice.

I don't want to take anything away from Chappers or Dave because what they did was fantastic and I certainty couldn't have done it. But given the choice out of the three who to interview I know which one I'd pick.

I don't doubt that. But at the same time Chris standing there telling the Dragons' "I ran 33 miles... I did this..." etc makes the other two look lemons. If he'd said to the Dragons "well I ran 33 miles on a treadmill and at London clubs, and my friends Chappers and Dave have been touring the country..." etc I'd probably not have been so disheartened by it. I just think their could have been more credit where credit was due. The videos all pointed towards Moyles having toured the country.

Why do I get the feeling that Chris is gonna lay into this on Monday morning? What you say is true I suppose he could have said that but it may be the case that Chappers and Dave were too tires and didn't want to say much - pure speculation but we'll never know. I agree that the video did make it seem as if Chris had been running around the country but I hardly think he had a hand in the editing of that and again we don't know how much raw footage there was and how much of it was useable.

I do agree that while their individual contributions were mentioned it was made to seem that Chris had made the biggest contribution and they were merely his wingmen and he could have done more to make that point. I don't think he did it deliberately or selfishly but it is more impressive to say an 18 stone man ran 33 miles than 2 sports enthusiasts who are not overweight ran 33 miles.

Just in case this thread is mentioned on Monday morning I'd like it made clear that I am defending Chris' position.

He asked for newbies, he got em, and here they come, slagging him off left right and centre lately, but dont worry, we'll take a kicking on the newbies behalf. :D

Well done to Chris, he deserved to hog the credit, hes a big man, the screen can only fit so much in, Dave still looked funny appearing just behind Gary and Chris. But most credit must go to Chappers for his brilliant rant, well done all.

Just watched the video posted by Jono ( viewtopic.php?f=28&t=18841#p334158 ) , as I didn't see Sport Relief live.

Not nearly as bad as made out in the first post. Chris is a presenter, Chappers and Daves are comic foils/sidekicks, so it's natural that he became their spokesman.

He was being asked direct questions by the Apprentice peeps, so he answered.

It was made very clear by Davina and the VT what Chappers and Dave had done.

The worst you can say about Chris is that "it's all about him", but that's always been the case, he admits it, and Sport Relief put him to the fore.

If you look closely, you can actually see Chris *physically* standing to one side after the VT, applauding Chappers and Dave and clearly trying to give them the limelight. He can't be blamed if he is the bigger name and Davina and co focus on him.

I watched the video with an open mind, but I do think Chris can't be held up for blame on this occasion.

I agree, neilt0.

As mentioned above, not that many people in the country will actually know who Chappers and Dave are, despite their acclaimed party-DJing skills. Chris also did run the 33 miles - I know it's a little bit easier due to no wind resistance but he does carry a bit more weight, so this balances things out.
All in all, I don't think Chris hogged anyone's limelight whatsoever.

I'm taking bet's now on a Foots V Moyles fight. In the blue corner. Weighing in at 18 stone is the motor-mouth roly-poly DJ Chris Moyles with 4 years of doing the breakfast show and 10 years at radio 1 under his belt. He is accompanied by his girlfriend Sophie who looks like a fitter version of Duffy!

And in the pink corner we have Mr Fooooooooooooot Looooooooooooose. Weighing in at 12lbs he is the unrecognised king of Scotland and twice winner of the international highland games. He is accompanied by his ageing dog Hooooooooolllllliiiiieeeeee.

Leeeeeeeets get ready to Ruuuuuumble.

Chappers mentioned something like it was "another typical blunder for the Radio 1 press department" on Friday's Mills show that in the TV listings guide it said "Chris Moyles completes his Radio 1 challenge" or words to that effect. Scott then joked "maybe I should have been an option on 82125 too".

Chris deserves all the credit he gets, especially for his Comic Relief work, but I'd have rather seen Chappers and Dave achieve something on their own.

On friday I said in another topic that Chris hogged the attention (yes I signed up just to post that ¬_¬), but after seeing it on youtube again it's pretty clear it was just Davina/the Dragons/the show producers focusing on him, so sorry Chris!

Great job by all three of them, as well as all the people who helped organise it and by the radio 1 DJs for plugging it.
