The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Thirty something years old ... 18 stone ... five foot whatever ... smokes like a reeking lum ... drinks like a fish ... obviously no stranger to a kebab ... can apparently run five miles.

Something's not quite right.

Sure, but five miles? I dunno, FT. I remain unconvinced. And in these times of openness at the BBC, as well.

I guess we have to define "run". And maybe "miles".

'Run' means moving your legs in quick sucession on a tredmill, and 'miles' has such an obvious definition i'm not even going to bother explaining.

If you've listened to Chris enough, you'll realise that he is one of the most honest DJs around. He won't lie about the exercise he has done because lying makes unconvincing radio. He's even gone to the extent of making a profile on the Nike Plus website that is 'easy to find'.
I really do think he's serious about this. I've no idea how he does it but I believe him 100%.

It's a shame you didn't define "miles" as I think you were really on to something with your effort on "run.

I agree with you though on lying making unconvincing radio. That's why I'm unconvinced.

Chris was quite open right from the start that he was going to TRY to match as much as he could of Chappers and Dave's runs, but he never really thought he would actually do it. If anything has come across in terms of his honesty or otherwise it is surely that he seems to have genuinely surprised himself not just by what he has managed to do, but in that he has been really motivated to do it - from the sound of him yesterday he's as shocked as you Gaviano.

And if you would like to see people with similar physical profiles to Chris training and running (using my definition, and I'm a runner) on treadmills for considerably more than four or five miles (using the dictionary definition, I'm also a pedant) at a time, come to the gym I go to, it's a regular sight there. It's not pretty, but then going from the pictures he's posted Chris doesn't exactly make it look attractive.

Well, it might not be pretty but it probably still beats ITV's Saturday night schedule.

You've got a point, Yudster, and even though he sounded shagged after one mile this morning, at least he did it.

He did sound exhausted - but running outside and running on a treadmill are really different, he's got so used to a treadmill it was always going to take him some time to get into the kind of running where you actually go somewhere! I'm the other way around, I get like that on a treadmill (and I get shin splints too) but outside I'm fine.

Fair play, as a thirty something 18 stone chap, who drinks and smokes, there is no way I could run a mile in under ten minutes.

Well done, and XXXL is to big on me too, yeeh.

Well done to Chris for his run. He may not be the fittest of people but at least he did it and I doubt I could have done it in under ten minutes. What I want to know is have those who slag him off done anything like this? It obviously wasnt easy for him yet he did it because it is for charity so well done Chris.

He's not finished yet either, he's going to run at all the remaining grounds isn't he?

1 mile > 1 kilometre

Foot wins.
