Edith B. was discussing "shattered illusions" the other day, ie. what did you believe in as a youngster which was destroyed unexpectedly?

One of Edith's listeners believed firmly in Dr. Who, only to see the tardis being assembled in the street one day (Dr. Who was being filmed locally). Thus, at this point, all the poor listener's dreams were shattered.

What has happened to you?

Sorry I was expecting to talk about Justin Lee Collins when I clicked on this thread. He had this act he made up called 'Justin Illusion' when he was doing that 'Convention Crasher' show for Channel 4.

I'm here now anyways.

I was gutted when I found out the tooth fairy dont exist, she seemed so nice, I'd heard nothing but good stuff about her, everytime I left a tooth under my pillow I hoped to see her smiling down on me. Do kids still do that? :?

I was gutted to find out that Foot-loose was just a myth, made up to make children go to bed early.
Still, we live and learn.

I always believed that once you donated a pint of blood, your body didn't make any more.
I was explained the truth during my first donation.

My Uncle Ron told me that mouth ulcers were called 'chatterbox spots' and were caused by talking too much. I believed that for a while...

also, when i was about four or five remote controls were just starting to be available, and my Uncle Tom is a real techie and had one of the first ones. He hid it down the side of the sofa and told me that he was changing tv channels by pointing at the screen with his finger. I seem to recall that I wasn't quite convinced, but having never seen remote controls, I couldn't work out how else it was happening.

My grandad watched me chasing blackbirds around his garden when I was about three and told me the best way to catch them was to put salt on their tails. Kept me busy for hours that did.
