Can I just point out to anyone signing up this morning after Chris's prompt - enjoying this forum is NOT dependant on being nice. Not at all. If fact, we quite like opinionated argumentative types - prefer them to the licky-sucky types anyway. No, the thing to remember is rather than be nice, be interesting. Have something to say for yourself (beyond "yeh I luv Chris Moyles innit lol") and be prepared to fight your corner. Being nice isn't a requirement at all, having a reasonable vocabulary and some ability to use it probably is.

Well, a few things - first ironicy? What?? I'm astonished Topher missed that one. Be thankful I got to you before s4b too. And no, it wasn't lost - but the irony of my subsequent response apparently was, so the jury's still out!

I learned about the natural gas thing at school as well, which people here will tell you was in the olden days, when ladies carried parasols and wore long dresses, so I'm also not sure that qualifies as interesting, not in this century anyway.

Ironic - Irony - Ooops - should really learn to stick with the first sentence I write and not go back to re-phrase stuff. Don't tell me we have 'spelling and grammar experts' on here. Lovely, nothing better than being pulled up on an Internet Message board constantly!

As for artificial gas smells being a widely held view, I can assure you it isn't - Whilst trying to maintain a persona of mystery, it is linked to my career and from my experience of working with trainees within my industry, I would suggest that only around 25% of the population of the UK are aware...well someone did suggest I should be prepared to defend myself, even if it is boring

Can I suggest the regulars post a summary up so we (the newbies) know and understand who everyone is and how this all works. But rather than post about yourself, post about someone else! That should cause a few rifts

Actually I was just continuing Zoots format of people descriptions. As far as the chat room goes, I've explained. I talk when I can and when I have something to say. If I'm just commenting, it's an easier way of not getting properly involved in a conversation. Just as everyone used to do in IRC chat - from which the /me command is modelled.
