My sister just showed me a couple of emails she has received from her lecturer over the past week.

This is the first one, explaining that classes will be disrupted this week as the lecturer has to attend a family funeral:

Biological Aspects of Behaviour - Classes and Test are postponed for next week
I have to be absent from the University next week to attend a family funeral in Canada. My absence means that we cannot hold the lectures on Tuesday or Thursday, nor the test next Thursday.

I will only be returning on the 3rd of March, and will inform everyone of the situation then. Meantime, I am assuming that we can proceed in the 1st week of March.

Thank you for your patience.

Imagine her surprise then, when she received this second email today:

My classes were cancelled, my flights were reserved, and the funeral was likely to be on Monday or Tuesday. Nevertheless, my father refused to cooperate, and lives on, against all expectation. Our best option is to hold the classes at the usual times this week, and to hold the test as previously planned on Thursday 28 February. Please let me know if that is inconvenient.

Now, I know this could be quite insensitive, but I found the idea that this guy has organised a funeral for his dad who, as of yet, is not dead, highly amusing. This was made even funnier because of how irritated the guy sounded!

Think how the father must feel knowing his kids have got his funeral planned before he is dead. He probably wanted to live on just to prove a point and annoy them. I know if it happened to me Id want to do that.

The inconsiderate bastard!

As insensitive as it sounds, obviously the gentleman is terminal and either the hospice or hospital that cares for him assumed it'd be any day and as the fellow is travelling a great distance and is clearly in charge of the details, I suppose it was the only way to do it.
I'm reminded of that movie, "Mouse Hunt" for some reason.

I'm pleased because I finally finished writing a macro to change the way Outlook handles emails sent from separate accounts, which is stupid that you can't change it any other way.

I spent two solid days working on it as well. I hate VB.

There is a talk show in The States called Jimmy Kimmel Live. The video below is taken from there. A bit of background on the clip:

Sarah Silverman, a comedienne and a frequent guest, has been dating Jimmy Kimmel since 2002. Kimmel often ends his programs with a sort of silly set joke apologising to the audience saying how sorry he is that they've run out of time and Matt Damon will have to come back another night. When Damon actual did appear on Kimmel's program one night, the actor had just sat down when Kimmel apologised and said they had run out of time and Damon would have to come back another night. Damon told Kimmel to "F*ck himself," and continued to swear at him during the running of the shows credits. Some viewers actually believed Damon was angry.

And the response to Sarah from Jimmy:

Made me laugh anyways.

I am smiling because I just got an email from my boss finally agreeing to let me take next week off as holiday! It may have been the bit where I said "If you don't let me have it as holiday I'll just go off sick" that swung it, I don't know........

Today I made my last ever credit card payment.

I never want to see another credit card as long as I live.

Thank you! It's a feeling that I would put up there with having sex and becoming an uncle (note, not having sex to become an uncle, before anyone asks. I know I come from a village, but I don't go along with the webbed-feet culture.)
