That Moving to New York song, which, when I first heard it, I thought sounded average at best, is now (and has been for a little while) incredibly annoying.

Wow. A whole two extra days.

Despite what Bill Shankly thought, football isn't everything, you know. You could go to the cinema instead. Or the pub, or go and see a different sport, or play a sport.

It makes a whole lot of difference. I have rituals.

No, your right, football isnt everything. Its more! To me it is anyway! I could go to the cinema, but with no-one to go with then i will pass. I could go to the pub. And that is what i shall be doing, to watch Southampton hammer(hopefully) little Bristol Rovers live on BBC1 tomorrow lunchtime.

I dont play a sport, but i do participate in a sport. I am a qualified football referee so will be doing that Sunday morning.

Hope that clears things up for you.

My husband is a qualified referee. It can be a right pain sometimes when we're watching a game too.......

Well then I think you should look into getting some more interests as well as football. Having one interest isn't healthy.

Haha yeah i know what you mean. There's a qualified referee who sits right behind me at Ashton Gate and throughout the game we are discussing what we wouldve done in that situation.

I do have more than one interest. But football is my main interest.

My cat, Suzie. Who despite having plenty of food, water, cuddles and not wanting to go out is insisting on meowing very loudly while walking round the house and shoving her tail up my nose - starting at 6:30 this morning and will continue to do so when i get home tonight.

I might open a small window later and force her through it.

You sir, either have extremely short legs, or your cat has an extremely long tail.

Har. She does have a rather long tail that seems to bring everything in from outside (sadly not my washing which i can't be buggered to get) - but not that long... she managaes it when i'm happily sitting at my desk (on HER chair apparently) at home - selfish cat.

Don't even get me started on my dog!

Cats are better. So there.

In my personal opinion (and this is not a swipe at anyone here) only people who can ensure at least a person is at their house the majority of the time should own dogs.

Oh I agree; cats don't hoover up the crumbs of a belgian bun (which belonged to your mum) which you "liberated" from the cupboard or help you finish your veggies like a dog does.

But cats are nice... although i don't really know why i have one. Hang on... how DID this cat become a resident in my home?

I don't like dogs. I don't like that pack mentality where however affectionate or loving your dog appears to be, give it one little whisker of a chance and it'll be in there trying to take over. Dog's aren't loyal, they just have a well defined sense of their place and purpose in the pack - but as soon as they think they can get away with it, they'll make a move on the pack leader. All that canine love and affection really just is a combination of grovelling desperation to not get thrown out of the pack, and looking for your weakness so it can grab the power.

With cats, they know they don't need you. You're a soft touch for food, true, but beyond that, if a cat hangs around to be with you, you know the only reason is because it wants to, because ultimately, food he can get anywhere. If your cat jumps on your lap for a cuddle, that's proper love and affection. Dogs only suck up to you because they think they have to.

Although I think someone has been watching the Discovery Channel and listening to David Attenborough a little bit too intently. You do have a Good Point... a very good point. But adding to that - Cats are selfish though, at least with dogs if YOU want a cuddle dogs will come to you, cats with stick the V up at you if they're too busy licking themselves for the 8th time.

Ok - no, I haven't been doing either of those things, but I am relatively bright, and very well informed. And yes, I agree, cats are selfish - thats how you know that if they are with you, it's because they want to be. Dogs will come for a cuddle, but only because they think they have to. It's wrong to interpret that as affection.

You could do a lot worse than watch either the Discovery Channel or David Attenborough.

I don't like dogs. However I respect and admire that many people do, and I certainly don't dislike them. My mum had a yellow labrador that looked just like Hollie, and she was nice.

However the fact is they are pack animals, and the motivations and behaviours of pack animals have been extensively studied for years, are well documented and well understood. Domestication has diluted it a lot, but it's still there. It's not my opinion, it's biology. I just emailed a bloke in one of our other offices who did part of his PhD studying the conservation of wild dogs in South Africa - he's a dog owner and a dog lover (he has labradors too), and he says I'm right. Thats good enough for me.

But if the argument is "cats are better" "no dogs are better" - well, I didn't join that one.
