Was anyone else really surprised by Aled's limited musical knowledge this morning?

I like Aled a lot, but he didn't seem to have a clue about the simplest of music connections (around 0900 hours this morning). For someone who is both a Producer and helps to put the playlist together, it was more than a little surprising.

were we listening to the same show?

He couldn't name all the beatles but he seemed to answer nearly all the others correctly...

I'm sure people would moan if the guy could answer simple questions about The Osmonds and The Beatles too. At least it means he's in touch with new music instead of old music. Anyway, regardless of whether it's new or old music, when did knowing about band member names effect production of a radio show or what music is worth putting on the playlist?

Well, it's just, for someone compiling a playlist, etc., and working in a radio station, I would have expected him to be considerably more knowledgeable. But hey ho.

Hmm, i think if the song was released within the last 10 years, he'd know it. But i reckon if it's any older than something like Wigfield - Saturday Night... he might struggle ;)

I'm awful at remembering artists and the names of tracks, but i'll remember how the tune goes.... which means i'm always useless at any pub quiz which is about music.

I think he just has a sheet in front of him. Doesnt he stand next to Chris during the show?

Have you never heard Dave do his thing with intros? He can name almost any track from the first couple of bars, and also usually tell you what year it was. It's quite freakish really.

Dave's introductory service, genius!

And I beat him on the tv themes today bit accidentally called out his name instead of my own! Yes I'm that sad I play along at home as if they can hear me.

I think I could give Dave a run for his money with song intros though but I'm no good with years, my mate however is great at years and rubbish at intros. together we'd beat him.

In fact I could even go so far as to challenge you lot but I have no idea how!

You called out "Dave!" instead of "Andy!" ?! Haha! That is sad.
However, I play along with the pub quiz and gloat when I'm doing better than them so I don't think that part is too tragic.

Dave's knowledge of music within the first few bars is astonishing but Aled's lack of Beatles knowledge isn't. He's shown before he doesn't know much about them and Chris has always ridiculed him for this. "Classic" tracks he's not so good with but all the stuff from the mid-90s to now he does seem to know. He was always doing fairly well with the Golden Hour tracks if you remember.

But do you call out the answers as I do...got some weird looks as I shouted out "Dave Different Strokes!" In the car this morning....

Andy, I think that as long as you only call out Dave's name during the quiz and not at any other point in your day/night then you'll get away with it.

I play along with the quiz. And with the instro thingy if i know it, but i dont shout my name out, that's just sad!

I didn't think you had a car, you always seem to use public transport (which is a sensible thing to do in London.)

It would be funnier shouting "Dave Different Strokes" on the train.

I got a lift to the station as I was running late for it. I do often laugh out loud on packed commuter trains but I only play along in my head. I'm not that daft!

Nah, I can do that too, recite trivia and name tracks from the first couple bars and stuff. My dad does it too. We just have that sort of brain.

I do shout out the answers and embarrassingly will hop about if I'm particularly excited about knowing the answer. This is to my great detriment as my family will sit and watch me on Tuesdays as if I'm a mild form of entertainment. Apparently the Monday Night Pub Quiz turns me into a spectator sport. They know not to speak during it, not to give me answers and then they sit and watch, waiting for the next act in my stage performance!

But, I'll go back to I've never shouted out one of their names so it's not quite as sad

Ok maybe it's not totally the first time I've done it then...curse my tired brain unable to keep up with which time I was on about...

Look I get easily confused!
