The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Just in case Aled or even Chris (M not H) reads this - I AM NOT COMPLAINING!

However I think since the ban on competitions the show is lacking something...I still enjoy the banter and the general randomness of the show but it's become a bit...samey and I find myself able to switch off if I need to do something else whereas before it was a case of "I must listen to this".

I think the reason for this is a lack of schedule. I used to be able to tell the time just from listening to the show....

If they were promoting Celebrity Tarzan it was about 7.20, when they did Celebrity Tarzan it was 7.40
When the news ended with One Road Travel it was just gone half past the hour
The last hour of the show was the easiest
8.57 - Tedious link
9.00 - Tedious song choice
9.05 - Treasure Hunt and Celebrity Tedious link appraisal
9.10 - Ramble + Kids theme tunes
9.20 - Ramble Out - Rachel previews CPC
9.30 - News and last One Road Travel
9.40(ish, very ish) - CPC
9.55 - Goodbye Mr Fish - He's Waving
9.58 - Back tomorrow from 7 song.

While you couldn't exactly set your watch by it I knew when I had to do things by...If I hadn't left the house by the first One Road Travel I was gonna be late. I knew by the start of CPC I should be putting up my papers up. If I was running late and I wasn't on the high street by the start of Ramble I needed to run or I wouldn't be at the shop on time.

Obviously it's not Chris' (or anyone on the team) fault that they can't do simple phone ins or competitions and while they have made the best of it, especially with the extra 2 1/2 hours and obviously the RAJAR figures have shown that they are still doing a great job I can't help but feel that it's kinda lost....structre.

Maybe I'm just a man who likes things to be ordered and organised or maybe I'm just having a grouchy day but when I accidently leave my radio at home and can't listen to the show on my way to work and am not bothered by it I can't help think that something's wrong.

Once again, not a complaint, still love the show and will keep listening till the day I end up being carted away by men in white coats. Merely wondering if anyone else had noticed this or if it was just me?

You had Buzz Off originally at 7.20 too which used to be something I'd time myself around.

I would agree, but not having much of a routine these days it doesn't matter so much. I do, however, think a lot of people dislike Scott's breakfast format because of this though so maybe we'll be in a minority.

Erm, wasn't Celebrity Tarzan on around the eight o'clock news?

Anyway, as for the show, I don't think that the lack of competitions has hurt it. I always found that the regular competitions dried up after a while. It may be alright for casual listeners, ones that don't here every show and don't listen to it all, but for a constant listener they can become very repetitive very quickly.

I can see where you're coming from but as with all things, change in inevitable. The very reason I began listening to Moyles and gang in the first place was because my local radio station didn't change and it had become the same routine each day, they had all the competitions and similar sorts of things that you mention that the Chris Moyles show used to have and I tuned in the other day and they are still doing the same routine.

Like a fine ripe cheese, the Chris Moyles show will change over time and as it matures tastes will change.

Each of us will enjoy the show/cheese at the various different stages it will go through as it matures (not that Chris Moyles and gang can mature much more than they already have ;) )...

I'm not suggesting that they keep the same competitions for ever - There's only so much Two Word Tango even I can take!

I'm just saying that I like a set routine....I'm very anal in my needs for routine...almost to the point of OCD.

Oh and Buzz of was one of the greatest features ever, second only to Viaduct.

Why do I get the feeling Zoot's signature is now gonna read "Andy B said - I'm very anal in my needs"

Why are ther now two signatures concerned with my bottom?

And Star Tek Enterprise, with the guy who used to be in Quantum Leap.

Though probably in fairness there aren't that many fans of that show! :D

I think the show is as good as it's ever been at the moment.. the only real routine I have is that I need to be in the shower by the time the first song is played, otherwise dad's girlfriend's kid will be late for school because I'm hogging the bathroom.

lol

;)

I guess it's just the way I work the. I need order in my life or I get nothing done. Oh and on reflection foots and console are correct with the times for celebrity Tarzan. I knew there was something that happened at 8 ish. I'm never too good with details.

Anyway I need order. It irritates me how they can't find one time to do Rob Dj's Monday night pub quiz. Sometimes it's before 9 sometimes it's just before 9 and the answers in ramble. Other times it's atthe end of the show.

I get the feeling that this could be used by Chris as another CM.net are so picky and moan about the tiniest thing so I want to say again I love the show but I'm very time oriented. Oh and I loved the 747 at 7:47 and 808 state at 8:08.

Ah so many good things forgotten.

The guy is Scott Bakula, and Enterprise never really had any initialisations.

I didn't mind it, but it wasn't particularly well received by the more devout fans - which is possibly why it didn't get an 'official' initialisation.

I know what you mean, Andy B. I would like to see more order regarding timings too. :-) I never mind the news being late (don't like it anyway), but a bit more structure in other things would be good.

Er, no, thats not the reason.

No, but certainly a lot prefer Moyles' spontaneity as opposed to Mills' strict timings on breakfast.

I think Newsbeat is patronising, as others have said, but I like the way Moyles interjects.

It's not so much the strict timings, Jono, as the fact that he seems desperate to appear to be spontaneous, when actually it all sounds very, very obviously planned. Oh, and Laura is so irritating she makes my ears bleed.

If the show had a bit more structure then it wouldn't be the Chris Moyles Show! It's the chaotic timing of things that helps keep some things unpredictable so keeps people tuned in waiting for a particular part of the show to happen. :)

But if you see my original post it WAS more sturctured rather than random. The only reason it's more random these days is that they have to have more banter due to the banning of competitions. I used to be able to tell exactly what time it was just from listening to the show (without the time checks) and I can't do that.

They've always gone off on tangents and talked about random things and been 7 minutes late for the news (actually he's surprisingly acurate with that lately, has someone had a word?) but now it's just all random all banter, which is good but too much of a good thing and all that!

I'm going to come right out and say it. I don't miss the competitions at all and I never really liked Car Park Catchphrase. And I wear a watch so I don't need to use the show to tell me what the time is. But I don't like it when Chris interrupts the news - but you can't have everything.
