However, Am i the only person in the country who is sick of Valentines Day? Just seems to me that its an american-ised, commercial-ised, crap invention that means most blokes having to shell out not much less than £50 just to keep there partners happy.

So is it just me?

Aw, if you want I'll send you a card Foots to make it a bit better. I had to make Alex one but it has foam letters and glitter so it looks quite good, especially for something I've made.
No idea what to get him though as a present. Doesn't help our 6 months is 3 days after. I'm supposed to know him a bit by now to at least get him something half decent!

As i said to you yesterday, its ok for those who have partners.

We usually go out for a really nice dinner and spend the whole evening togeather.... as we are both so busy at the moment it will be nice to chill out with a bottle of wine... we are going to a really nice place for a dinner and dance evening... although i am a bit worried that its going to be full of old people, but who cares, it will be a nice evening... oh and I am getting flowers sent to her work... she likes things like that!

See, now this is a prime example of my main problem with Valentines Day.

Because of the "nature of the day", people feel the need to have to do all this stuff on 1 specific day in the middle of February. But surely, if you really loved someone, then it could be done any time of the year? And neither person would need a stupid commercial day to "prove their undying love for each other"?

My view anyway...

I agree. It's the same with Christmas - infact Christmas is worse, everyone is shelling out £50+ on many people. Ban all holidays and special events, I say. Death to capitalisation and the big corporations.

valentines day will always be marred as the day i was diagnosed with cancer. last year i gave the "mr" a couple of things and he didn't really do anything. we were going to cook a nice dinner, but that didn't happen. this year? he'll probably get sappy that i'm alive and i'll be doing homework.
