Am I the only person here who has absolutely no idea who John Gaunt is, beyond that he apparently is someone who does a radio show somewhere?

I know vaguely who he is, mainly because he used to work on BBC Three Counties, which encompasses Buckinghamshire within its catchment area. I've very rarely heard him, but have done so enough to form the opinion that he's a bit of an egotistical twat who doesn't care much for people who disagree with him.

I know he did the Breakfast Show at one point. I've just looked up the period of employment:

In most cases, I don't believe so.. in this guy's case, he is probably the naive one by living in expectation when he should be living in hope.

He does. I never read it as i cant stand the twat! But i do look out for the "odd" dig at Moyles which is hilarious most of the time, because he's basically describing himself aswell.

I saw John Gaunt this afternoon on the Alan Titchmarsh show. (I was working from home...my wife had it on..I wondered in...um...)

He was relatively inoffensive, which I was gutted as I was looking forward to tearing into him! He had a vague rant about us not being able to celebrate Easter anymore because it is a Christian festival.

His point was that political correctness has hampered us celebrating easter; the specific example was a banned pancake race.

For the record I disagree. I think plenty of people are happily celebrating whatever they like!

I was Christened (though I do not follow the religeon). My wife is a Taiwanese Buddhist. We find it easy to co-celebrate Christmas, Chinese New Year, Easter etc!

We do all realise that Gaunty's slagging-off of the man Moyles is just increasing his profile.
Gaunty has just publicised himself in front of 7,000,000+ of Moyles' listeners.
Most of us had never heard of him - We all have now! - Gaunty wins.

Well I've heard of him now, but I still don't listen to his show or read his stuff - not really sure how that helps him. But hey, he sounds like he needs all the help he can get, so why not? It's always good to be charitable to the disadvantaged.

Only tried listening to Gaunt once, never again. I did use to listen as often as I could to James Whale on TalkRadio (now TalkSport I think) and thought he was brilliant. As Qwerty is saying, Guant is just slagging Chris off to try and get himself some more listeners.
