Has it been noted anywhere in this thread that Rolf Harris isn't Australian at all? He's actually Welsh............

Named after Rolf Boldrewood, an Australian writer his mother admired, he was born in Bassendean, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, Australia, to Cromwell ("Crom") Harris and Agnes Margaret Harris (née Robbins) who had emigrated from Wales.

In my book that makes him Australian, though I know some others would tend to disagree.

My sister has a British dad and an American Mum. She was born in Argentina and now lives in Chile...what the heck is she?

She has 3 passports which is quite cool though..she can pick and choose!

I know some people like to think that you inherit your nationality from your parents.. but if that's the case, where do you start? You'd have to follow your family tree back thousands of years to find out what nationality you are, which is a bit silly really.

I tend to think it's where you're born, with some exceptions. I think if you've lived somewhere for a considerable amount of time then you can say you're from there.

Legally it's your paternal grandmother's nationality I think.

I'd say if they are born in a certain country then they are of that nationality. Like my friend born in Australia but was moved here when he was young, still consider him to be Australian even if he disagrees.

So Comedy Dave is Chinese? And my brother is French? And Freddie Mercury was Zanzibarian (or whatever the correct term for someone from Zanzibar is)? And my friend's little girl Scarlet is Gambian? And my colleague Michael is Zimbabwean?

I'm thinking not.
