Isn't it 'The Church of St Mary next to the river'? Or something similar at least. Actually, I do think I've missed a bit out.

This guy used to lurch.
He was a right scarey man.
He hid in the bushes
And filmed women's tooshies
And watched the tapes back in his van.

(Bushes and tooshies does rhyme.... it depends on your accent)

Pah. Mine was better.

It had hairy cheese and everything.

Yeah you missed quite a bit but well done. I think the translations is

The Church of St Mary, by the white hazel, near the fast moving whirlpool and the church of St Teilo of the red cave

However the "she looks like a fat delia smith" quote tonight on the Ramsey show was a new low.
No doubt her entire family, friends, neighbours, whoever were watching her big moment on a major C4 show.

This reminds me of when that race horse died.

Yeah, I remember that. I think the horse was called 'Best Mate'. Chris got loads of complaints for that, although I can't actually remember what he said - I'm sure I've got a clip of it somewhere.

He said he couldn't believe people were making such a fuss over a horse and didn't understand why it was such big news. Mind you he only bets on football so I wouldn't really expect him to get it. You're either a horse person or not.

I really don't think that betting on horses makes you a "horse person".

In fact, much as I'm definitely not a horse person (and would even say I have a particular dislike for horses), I'm very much against cruelty to animals and think horse racing is actually quite cruel.

There's a debate waiting to be had.

I'm not sure I would consider horse-racing (and any training that goes with it) cruel, although I suppose I don't really know enough about it to have an educated opinion on it.

As for Chris' comments on Best Mate, I completely agree - a horse died, an event that must happen numerous times a day - why was this horse special? I had certainly never heard of it (him/her?) before it's death, and I truly can' believe that enough other people had known of Best Mate for it to make the news. Then again, I can't believe most of the stuff that does make the news.

I don't really, but personally, if I was in a race, I wouldn't want to be whipped all the way to the finishing line.

Agree or disagree with that though, I still think that people who think betting on horses makes you a "horse person" are having a laugh.

Best Mate was special because he was the best thing since Arkle! He won the Cheltenham Gold Cup three times. I'm irish, in my family if you don't watch the horse racing you are a freak and if you don't have a winning bet you are disowned.
