I can't claim the credit for the title of this initiative, however, we (myself and Foot-loose) feel it is right and proper that we report daytime utterings of the word 'bint' in the media. To start:

  • Thursday 17 January 2008, 17.43: Chappers uses the phrase 'miserable bint' to describe a person who allegedly text in to say that she dumped her boyfriend for getting a Policeman to knock on her door and ask her to come down the station. When she got to the car he was sat there and proposed to her.

  • Friday 17 January 2008, 15.01: James King used the word 'bint'. Context unknown.

The word Bint is Arabic for a daughter, specifically one who has yet to bear a child. It was in common use as a slang term during the first and second World Wars among British and Allied servicemen stationed in Egypt and neighbouring countries.

He was referring to some film and saying that some director had been brave and cast his sister as the "ugly bint" in the movie.

Long story short: bint isn't a bad word.

I think Channel 4 are going to be filming that soon.

Tony Robinson will present it.

What does a BA Jet and an 85 year old man have in common? They both have trouble staying up!

(That is completly my own work - not stolen from anywhere!)

Haha well played young Catherine.

S4B it's just to point out that if the word was so awful, it wouldn't be allowed to be said on daytime radio. The fact that you don't like it doesn't make it a bad word.

This is an official statement from Bint Watch 2008.

Mr Topher, I refrain from using any abbreviated words in conversations with you because you don't like it. All I was asking for was the same courtesy back. I don't like the word that's all!

Abbreviated words are an annoyance and yes I pick up on them (I'd like to point out at this stage that you agree with me on that) and it's also part of the shite rules (that's a typo but I left it in as it made me laugh.)

If people use them I don't get pissed off about it and don't throw my toys out of my pram. I mention it (mainly in jest). In fact, since pedant is the brush I've been tarred with, I feel obligated to live up to it.

Glad I amuse you and Foots so much! There are things you and Foots Toph doesn't like so I avoid doing them around you both. The word offends me [Removed at request]. I didn't want to tell you the reason before for many reasons and am a bit sad I have to explain now, some things are best left in the past.

I know that had you known this you and Foots wouldn't have started this so I guess I brought it on myself. I'll try not to let it bother me anymore I promise.
