What do you think of the fact that the "Golden Hour" has been taken away (for now anyhow!).

Would you like to see it brought back? I would! I loved it, and looked forward to it each week.

Cuddly Moyles seems to think it would turn into the "Bronze Hour" if it continues to go on & on, but actually I don't agree.

I don't really mind either way, I always skipped over it to see if there was any hand-over banter with Whiley anyway.

Well, you would, as you don't listen to blooming music. Not the best start to this thread.

I like the Golden Hour, but I do see where Chris is coming from with this decision. I would like to think it will make the occasional appearance though.

They could perhaps make it a monthly appearance, rather than weekly.

Yep, a monthly appearance, tophs! Or fortnightly even! Loved the brief stuff they did do from the past this morning!

On the contrary, I do like music, but I listen to The Chris Moyles Show to listen to Chris Moyles and the team, not to listen to music; I can listen to music any time, and it'd be music that I specifically wanted to listen to as well.

I never said you don't like music, as you previously stated you listen to CD's in your car. But I just think you need to "get with the playlist" a bit more, as you never really seem to know what's current, who's who, and what's what. Recently you didn't even know who Leona Lewis was, or the fact it was no. one, or anything.

Surely you would only "need" to have knowledge of current singles and the chart if you were interested in current singles and the chart? There's an awful lot more music out there than just that, and when all's said and done, the chart is pretty unimportant in musical terms these days.

Is it important to know that? It's mostly all generic tripe anyway. Besides, this is about the Golden Hour; music that was, not music that is.

Vivienne wrote:Recently you didn't even know who Leona Lewis was, or the fact it was no. one, or anything.

Was it explained to me who Leona Lewis is, because I still don't know? Although I don't really care to know, so it's possible that I just didn't take it in.

I just find it remarkable that certain people can listen to a radio, minus the music. I take it on board as full package. Plus, Yuds, by not listening to what's current, you are missing out on new people you may like, given half a chance. You know.

I do have one question for you though Console. How do you find out whether or not you like someone's work? I mean, it's entirely possible* that Leona Lewis's stuff might be absolutely up your street, you might really like her - how do you find out?

*I don't actually think this is true by the way, its just an example.

Hear hear!! That was my point! Past or present! By bothering to listen, we discover who we like!! :-)

Well, my question was an enquiry and I will accept whatever answer is offered, rather than an invitation to combat...........

There are times when I don't skip over tracks (because I'm on the other side of the room), so I do hear the 'new music'; I just don't generally like it.

I'm fairly certain that I have heard Leona Lewis' stuff, but it was probably some instantly forgettable song that I didn't like. Actually, I think my sister was playing one of her songs on loop not too long ago; I can't think which song it was, but it was awful (does that narrow it down?).

I think I originally said that it would be best to limit it's appearance as it would soon grow tired.

I think he's made the right move in resting it for a while.

I got really fed up with it in the build up to the 40th anniversary of Radio1. Didn't mind it too much at the end of last year when it was on a friday only.

But agree with the idea of scrapping it for now. I guess he wants to start 2008 without using the same routine from the end of 2007.

I'm glad the golden hour is gone. Chris Moyles has always been about the team rather than the music for me.

If I want to hear good new music I'll listen to Zane Lowe/Annie Nightingale/Gilles Peterson etc, and I invariably do.

But the golden hour isn't about new music, of was about great old songs that the older people listening at that time (ie when the kids are in school) would like. Trouble I'd there's only so much good old music that you can still play. I know.

Yeah I agree it's good for the older listeners to reminisce about those old songs but as none of the songs they tend to play hold any memories for me I'm not going to miss it too much.

I like the golden hour and am a bit dissapointed that its gone. it was a chance to hear some good classic music that isnt played every hour on the playlist, and beats listening to some of the crap... like Soulja Boy... but silence is better than Soulja Boy.......

Ah chris why get rid of it.Personally I thought it was the best hour of the week and as a 20 year old i'm slap bang in the middle of the radio 1 demographic!
Bring back CPC and all will be forgiven
