slightly a bit after the event i know, but i was at the cardiff book signing on the 11th, chris was really nice and down to earth and even his dad was there which was nice (some people in the line asked him to sign their book before chris) got him to sign the 1st and 2nd book and got a good photo as well. i asked him to sign the first book 'to generic ebay user' which i think he found quite funny and on the second he called me a 'cheeky bastard'. i had a nice bit of banter with him, he was top!

(the reason for this delayed post is due to a holiday after the book signing)

i'm on page 120 something, i think its a good read and as chris said he thought it would be a toilet book, thought the part about him and chris evans was good, as i've never really heard the full explaination before, i'm now waiting for 'the secrets of ironic comedy' by comedy dave vitty and 'how to be bald and funny' by dominic 'egg for a head' byrne.

I resurrected this thread because I got this book for Christmas. Sat down on boxing day, and three hours later I'd finished it.

Now, I'm not Moyles-bashing here because I think he's an excellent DJ and a thoroughly nice chap. I even thought the first book was quite interesting as it showed how he got to where he was, despite the "X-Factor" padding at the end. But my God what an awful book this second one is. Seriously... take a load of random stories (largely unfunny), string them together in no particular order and put about 15 lines of text per page, quadruple spaced of course.... oh, further pad it out with 3 page chapter titles and the odd "celebrity" thought.... et voila.... a poor money spinner.

I wish he'd just stick to what he's good at, and that's radio.

Oh Balls. There were some very amusing stories in there. The one with his brother standing above him in the middle of the night had me laughing and how his mother says feck was very sweet. Sure, it wasn't Tolstoy but maybe you weren't in the mood to enjoy it?

Perhaps you're right.
I guess though I just don't see the point of the book, it didn't seem to elaborate on the first book, nor expand on any untold stories that he might have had. It just seemed to be full of random unfunny tales.

I found it a mildly entertaining read, but as with the first one, I finished up thinking "yes, but......". Neither of them really said anything much.

Perhaps there is another point in there - maybe it's not all that big and clever to write your books yourself, if you aren't a professional writer - maybe this is a vindication of the role of the Ghost Writer.....? I'm about to start Russell Brand's (ghost written) Booky Wook, it'll be interesting to compare.

I also read Russell Brands book over the holiday season, and it's brilliant. I guess more so because of the odd lifestyle he's lived to date.

On top of that it's written very well indeed, you can certainly tell it's he writing it, and that he's a very intelligent person.

But it's not Russell Brand writing it, My Booky Wook is ghost written.

I may be wrong, and I prepare to be corrected but I think that somewhere in the book he mentions that early on in the writing he abandoned the ghost writer in favour of himself.

Perhaps I'm wrong, I read a few books this last week or so.

Me too...still haven't read it tho. I was in the middle of Derren Brown Tricks Of The Mind which took me an age to finish, then when I did finish that I didn't have the Moyles book with me so I moved on to the one I did have, Tommyland by Tommy Lee. If today is quiet I should be able to finish that today (again, it's hardly Tolstoy) and then I can move onto Moyles. I didn't get the Russell Brand one for xmas, but I'm hoping I will for my birthday next week.

I didn't think the moyles book was all that, some funny parts but nothing great. I just don't think he has had that much of a life to write two books about or he is keeping alot of things private.

You know, I agree Cat. I don't really like the second book either. I thoroughly enjoyed the first, but in the second, I have the distinct impression of someone struggling for material. Please don't let there be a third.

That's what I was like, Carrot. Was up during the night with the first one. The second just went down the loo.
