For those of you that don't know or don't frequent Aled.info, Aled's sister, Meleri, gave birth to a healthy baby girl on 21st December. Aled is now an uncle. According to his site, mother and father, Sion, are well and the baby I believe will be named "Elan".

Llongyfarchion Aled and family :D

Well, congrats Aled. I'd like to be an auntie. Hopefully my bro and his fiancee will get on with it before I'm too old to be a cool auntie.

Aled, until you have a baby of your own you can practice with Elan and spoil her like all good Uncles do (though I suspect there will be competition from your parents on who gets to babysit!)!

May your 2008 be filled with beauty and blessings. Happy New Year!!! :D

The best uncles are the evil ones who teach them all the bad habits.

How in Hell are you gonna manage that, unless you adopt of course!

Well, yeh, or a surrogate! It was just making me howl with laughter the way he had written stuff down!

In my experience, nieces ARE boring. Well, either boring or so incredibly spoiled you want to throttle them.

What about nephews? I'm really looking forward to having a nephew now. I don't think he'll be spoiled though.. they haven't got the money to spoil him for a start.

I have several nieces I like. It would be sexist to imply that all are dull like yours, Yuds. I would recognize mine in the street and enjoy their company enough that I'd even stop to chat.

The thing is that through a certain age (like say 12-19/20), I would bet my bottom dollar that most girls are worse than most boys.

Worse at being messy. I have 6 nieces. My sons are the only boys in the family. I have to say, having visited my sisters' homes many times, that girls tend to be messier. Their bathrooms are always grubby. It's a pet peeve of mine when there's hair on the bathroom floor and they leave hair, make-up, hairbrushes, etc. all over the place. Ugh.

But not only that, worse-tempered. I'm basing that on my opinion, which is formed mainly from myself, my brother and my sister*, but also from friends.

*Yes I may be biased, but my mum has said the same.

That's because females, bless us, are emotion-based creatures. This can be much to our detriment as we can occasionally come across as being rabid fishwives instead of cooly logical.

Some of you are rabid fishwives though.*

*Admittedly nowhere near all.
