I got my presents off my flatmate last nite so I can add to my list a pair of Skullcandy Ti Fur Headphones (they're like headphones and earmuffs combined and I love them), a SJP Covet gift set, Seinfeld season 9 dvds, Spongebob Squarepants dvds and the QI Annual. Lovely.

a cd - kanye west's graduation
2 dvds - jimmy carr's comedian and 24 season 6
1 ps2 game - sins 2 castaway
a bottle of jack daniels - current supply was running low
a scarf that i wanted
and a few silly pressies such as a desktop miniature golf game and a desktop ping pong game.

all of which were from my gf.

Got some money towards mine and my gf's holiday from my dad but didn't get anything from my mum, step dad or brother.

I got an egg incubator, a hand axe, 2 jumpers, a t shirt ( all M&S) Smellies, place mats and a chip and dip set, along with a gravy boat and a Jug for separating the fat off of gravy ( glass this time as the previous 2 plastic gifts have broken within about 6 months) Some great crime novels and a book on how to trace your family tree. A pretty mixed bag, but very welcome indeed.

Thank goodness I won't be having kids so that'll never happen to me! It has been a shock that my dad is too sick to work tho, cos I guess he's becoming an old man.

Nah, not at all. He has osteo-mylitis and after having a knee replacement last year, he had to have some fairly major surgery on his foot cos it had got so bad that he was in too much pain to walk a lot of the time. That was a few months ago but he's having a really difficult recovery, and can only just get around the house with a stick now. I think he will be okay, but it's taking longer than everyone thought. He will need his other knee replaced at some point too...not sure when.

Haha, how long do you have?

In as much of a nutshell as it can be put, I was born with congenital hip dislocation and the surgery I had as a kid to try and correct it didn't work, so I ended up with one leg about 2" shorter than the other. The limping was causing my spine to start to curve, so I had an operation to lengthen it. That involved breaking my femur and inserting an external fixator, like so:



(yes, that is me.)

Then when they took that out my bone hadn't knitted together properly, so they had to do a bone graft from my hip and also insert a big plate in my thigh to hold it all together. I also had to have some more operations on my knee cos that had suffered residual damage. I only limp very slightly now and my knee bends about 80 degrees. I'll need a hip replacement too, but hopefully not for a while yet...I also have some great scars, here is one of them, altho this isn't the best pic.

LOL. I do so love showing off that picture. at the time i was sick to the back teeth of strangers asking me what i'd done to my leg. I used to make up stories about having been in a snowboarding accident and stuff cos the reality was so tedious to explain.
