This is going to be a proper marathon! 8)

I know they are going through some of the best bits of each month, but are they really presenting it live?
Moyles normally complains when he has to do an extra hour to cover Jo Whiley - let alone a 12 hour show!

i can't see it being pre recorded. It'll be too long a deal for everyone concerned. For management too allow it incase of any incidents. I.e. Links don't work. No cover. For chris. I don't see him doing 12 hours without it being live. It'll be a good gig for him. Expanding the audience for him.

i have gone through the press releases. And haven't noticed one when chris did his 5 hour shift. Ok. He was on till 12. But the original plan was too work till 10.30. We kinda knew about it. But nothing was released as a press release because he is doing his live 12 hour breakfast.

I have a way of knowing if it is live. Dom and carrie will i assume do the news and sport.

IN FACT. It's just struck me that new years day is live. Here is why.

Look on the ask aled post. He said there was something big he is working on with chris. This can refer too new years day.

Chris has mentioned a couple of times on radio in passing he is working on a big project. This can mean the live new years show.

I thank you.

Surely this means he's recording it - as he's stated quite a few times that nobody plans the live shows that much in advance.

Oh well who cares I'm not going to listen to it as it happens anyway, will save it for a hungover New Years Day :D

Alas, I'll be at work for most of the day and the ice rink office radio won't stay stable on R1 so I'll miss it. I s'pose I could listen to it on listen again in stints...

I'm fairly certain I heard you guys mention this during the show? I remember at least that Chris said something about you guys being off until 7th January so I knew it wasn't live.

Are there really people who seriously thought that Chris Moyles - or anyone else come to that - would actually broadcast live for 12 hours on Radio 1? People really thought that?! I'm beginning to understand the concept of people who think that Eastenders is real...........

I didn't listen to the New Year's Day show. Recordings are not really my "thing". I listened to Radio 2 instead, who had an ABBA tribute "thing" going, which was good.

I listened to most of the show. It was great as there was a few things I missed which they re-played and a lot of stuff I'd forgoten about. Rachel announcing her engagement, Dave finally getting HD tele (oh and having a baby).

The music was great as well, good to see the chose all the music before hand and could announce it. also I liked how the music went through the year as well.

Was this ABBA tribute live then and not recorded?

O, it was recorded. But the DJ was speaking "live".. there's a difference.

That is possibly my highlight of the year (as far as Moyles is concerned.) It was hilarious.

I dipped in and out of the New Years Day marathon, but the bits I heard were great.

I heard quite a bit and really enjoyed it! It was great knowing I could switch on the radio at any point and know I was going to hear something that would make me smile!

I agree. I was dubious when they first announced it, but I think it really worked. I hope they do it again sometime.

Possible next year? It's sound a bit daft mid-August.
