The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I think these newbies shouldn't believe everything Chris says about us! We're only mean to the idiots guys - which includes people who post in text speak as that is against the rules! Also are we not entitled to an opinion that is not the same as Chris'? We're not sycophants we actually critique the show, most of which we enjoy!

Mostly negative threads unfortunately get picked up... I often think on purpose.

At least we have the brains to be discerning. Unlike some forums.

So you read UM then?...I love Chris as well as Scott, in fact pretty much all of Radio 1
I agree with Vivienne -Chris talked about a negative reaction on purpose, it was very clever and provocative he's a master at getting the reaction he want out of people, it seems to me.

Welcome along Monitorabbit. How do I pronounce that name? Is it Monitor Abbit? Monito Rabbit? Monitor Ab Bit?

Personally, I prefer Monito Rabbit. It sounds Spanish. Or like a character outta X-Men.

I find it rather comical that he repeatedly slags off the board, despite being told in the past that the reason why people do this is because they're passionate about the show and the team. Now I wonder who on the team said that? :) As usual Chris over-exgagerated the whole debacle to silly proportions it seems. A large amount of people on this forum have followed the show right from the start so they have every right to complain about something they don't exactly like.

I'm still not sure what it is about the show we have complained about?

We said that the Most Haunted programme is pish. Which it is?! The only reason that we watched it is because Aled and co were on it. As I said elsewhere - that didn't make the programme any better!

I feel that a mountain is being made out of a molehill with all of this.

No, but I know someone who does.... it was just the worst insult I could think of (I'm not very good at insults) - and the apology stemmed from the fact that I am not usually that rude without reason, and felt compelled to backtrack! I'm nice really. No, really.....

You have to admit though it makes for far better radio to have Chris moaning about us than to have Chris say "Oh there's a website out there where everyone thinks I'm great!" It'd sound to schmaltzy. Far better to have someone to rage against.

The main point is that most people on this site are what Chris refers to as "Hard-core listeners" (I think he said that in the second book) and as such feel like we are as much a part of the show as they are (As I've previosuly said I wake up to Brand New Cheesy Song).

It's like football teams. You love your team, especially when they're doing well (Pompey) but no team is great all the time and every team has a few games where they seem to lose their co-hesion and things just don't work (Pompey after Xmas). So you criticise them and say you would have done thigns differently and say, maybe such and such a player needs replacing or maybe they should try doing this formation instead. Sometimes they play dreadfully and you can do nothing but say "Well that was a load of crap wasn't it" even when the team tried their hardest.

My point is that even when your team does all of that, you never stop loving them. If Pompey go on a bad run and we end up in yet another relegation fight on the last day of the season, doesn#'t ever mean I'm gonna stop suporting them. It's the same with the show, the more "involved" you feel with the show, the more "right" you feel you have to criticise the things that go on with it, doesn't mean we still don't love the show.

Until they bring out Sims Radio 1 edition for us to try on, we'll just have to bicker endlessly on here I guess.

You can say it any way you like, I'm very happy with anything :)

You're all really nice - I guessed Chris was joking when he characterised the posters on here as a grumpy moany schoolyard bullies and clearly he was. I think it's typical of his humour and probably got the site a lot more publicity than praise would have done, as Andy B said.
I still didn't watch Most Haunted but I am going to watch it, not expecting genius television but it's always nice to see favourite Radio 1 personalities on telly - loved Scissorhands for example and it's great when a Radio 1 person's on Buzzcocks too.
