BBC News wrote:Competitions code unveiled by BBC

The BBC has unveiled a code of conduct for its competitions on television, radio and online services.
It follows recent incidents in which the corporation admitted it had misled viewers and listeners, including one involving a contest on Blue Peter.

The code says every entry to a contest "should have a fair chance of winning" and that winners should be "genuine".

Director general Mark Thompson told staff that competitions would be phased back in by the end of the year.

The BBC suspended all phone-in competitions in July after an internal inquiry found serious editorial breaches in six shows, including Comic Relief and Children In Need.

Finally!!

So much fuss.

It must be tricky for the BBC, as they´re expected to be somehow less morally corruptible than the other networks. ITV can seemingly get away with continuing to run competitions despite commiting far greater crimes, even though they too have just as much of an obligation to be open and honest.
That said, i bet that Mark Bannerman´s girlfriend is laughing into her cornflakes this morning due to his being evicted from the jungle.

I've not researched it, but am I not right in saying that ITV have been fined a shed load more than the Beeb?

I think the only reason it seems that the BBC have had more of a problem is because they have made such a fuss over it. I understand why they did that, but I have a feeling they brought the bad publicity on themselves.

Better to "bring the bad publicity on themselves" and deal with it than try to hide it and have to explain themselves when it gets leaked to The Daily Shite.

God, now you're asking me to count, and it's still morning.... let's see. On average 12 texts per week at 12 pence a time. So... £1.44 x 4. Hold on... I'm doing the calculations on the back of a biscuit wrapper. I think it's £5.76... the cash I save from not tipping goes towards this.

I don't know, I wasn't paying attention to the numbers, I just loved how you justified it against the non-tipping stance, very neat indeed!
