The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Now don't slag me off for expressing my opinion just take it as it is.

It's not the same it was, the show in the afternoon was brilliant and I looked forward to getting home every night to lissten to it. It was brilliant, funny, different, loud etc. wheras now it's become to family orieanted. Stuff like Birthday corner is boring, no matter how much Chris jokes about "I can't do this", he still does it everyday. I don't blame him none of these features will have been suggested by him. Even in the past year I've noticed a steady decline. Since they moved to mornings I stopped being able to listen to the show and that carried on for about 2 years until about last Chrisymas when I started doing listen again, and it was something to listen to. But now I finf myself being able to turn it off without a second thought.

Don't get me started on Carrie, I'm sure she's a nice girl but as a sports Jounalist she biased and I think Dave has the greatest knowledge of sports altogethor out of the team not the expert and shes annoying. I quite like Dom though, he's funny and has a good sense of humour. Rachal doesn't really bother me she lets the show flow and doesn't butt in unless asked but still I miss GREYHOUND!

The shows not as funny as it was, and no longer does the show surround Chris and Dave but a whole host of other annoying people. I think Chris is a naturally funny but I don't feel like I like the format of the show anymore and I certainly long for the old afternoon show. If i was head of Radio 1 I'd swith Chris and Dave back to afternoons, dump Carrie and give the morning slot to Edith or Fern and Regie.

Haha, maybe Charlie is posting from another timezone ;)

I kind of agree with Charlie in one sense. I used to love the afternoon's with Mark & Lard and Moyles as well. And also when Moyles did Saturday's with all the random features. But nothing lasts forever, everything changes. Now listening in the morning with Moyles in the breakfast slot suits me fine. Still finding it a laugh on the way to work and helps start the day off with a smile.

Edit: Just out of interest, I found this site: Radio1 Schedule from 1998 to 2004

I agree pretty much 100% with what you've said, especially this bit.

Having said that, I do wonder how much attention you used to pay to the show 'back in the day'. Will was called Greyhead, not Greyhound. He never had any association with either the dog racing or the American intercity bus company as far as I can remember. He was a legend, in my eyes anyhow.

Whilst I can perfectly accept you having and voicing your opinion - which is fine, I cant understand why you would do it on the Chris Moyles Fan site (even though its not actually advertised as that). If you had perhaps made some constructive criticism and suggested ways to improve, that would have also been acceptable in my eyes - I just dont get it.

I'm sure people will agree and people will disagree. I am on the side of thinking that the show is good, I cant compare it with a while ago as I wasnt a listener back then, I can however say that this is the type of topic which gets talked about on air - The phrase 'the unofficial Chris Moyles hate site moaning about how the show's gone down hill since afternoons' comes to mind.

I think this is the type of post I shall add this message to: - These are personal opinions, not to be forced upon others or regarded as wrong just because they are someone elses, its not about right and wrong its about what different people believe in - awww wasnt that heartfelt?

gbm, I find myself baffled as well. There's a whole score of shows out in the world that I find unsatisfactory but I don't go out of my way to go onto their websites to p*ss & moan about them. I just don't listen/watch said shows. Problem solved. And, by the way, Charlie, I think Chris always aspired to the Morning Show at Radio One. I don't think he'd fancy going back to afternoons -- except to sleep in longer!

Surely all this would achieve would be to move a show which you have said you don't think is as good as it used to be to a different time slot?

Moving the show won't make it better.

I think some of the features are a bit weaker at the moment, but I think thats because of the phone in ban nonsense - they are doing a pretty good job considering the rules they have to stick to. I still hold out hope for the return of CPC.

The listening figures speak for themselves. It would be impossible for the show to move from afternoons to breakfast, with no change in format; it just wouldn't work in the same way.

I think there are many many people out there who share your opinion charlie, I'm just not sure why you think anyone here needs to know that you do to. What do you want us to do? Agree with you? Well, some people already do, like I said. Argue with you and try to change your mind? Why would we do that? What do you want to talk about charlie?!

I've never found Carrie to be annoying. I know many people do dislike her and think she shouldn't be on the show, but I think she does add to the team. She's a posh girly-girl; they're character traits that Chris and the rest of the team can run with and make good radio out of. As for Dave knowing more about sports, I would agree that he knows more about football, but I think Carrie's knowledge of other sports is greater than his (that is the feeling I get when they actually talk about other sports anyhow).

I do agree on the whole that the show isn't as funny as it used to be, but I still find it a very entertaining listen. Chris does actually have a difficult job to do; to try and make a radio show that appeals to the largest audience possible. That unfortunately means adapting his style that some people love to that which many people like. I still think The Chris Moyles Show is the funniest thing on radio, and unless Ricky Gervais gets back on XFM, I can't see that changing for a while.

I personally think Birthday Corner is one of the greatest features they've ever done and I'm serious in this. The level of comedy in it is borderline genius.
#312546
It has very much grown on me, though I think the best thing about it is the jingle, which is very much in genius territory.

"Your mum and dad did some stuff, then your mum was up the duff. Nine months later, you came along and that is why we're singing this song. Its time for birthday corner on the Chris Moyles Show."

You really can't beat that at eight in the morning.

I just love how the BBC bosses have asked him to be more "nice", and so he does this to satisfy them - and presumably it does - and it's actually just a huge piss take. Genius is probably close to right.
#312592
No it's the ripping of the cards and the way they never mention it. It's fantasticly understated. When Mills did it with the big crashing glass sound it just didn't work but the way they act so serious about it then you just hear the ripping sound with out anyone saying a word just undermines the whole of the rest of the feature.

I could go on and on about the level of comedy genius but I've said enough already.

But the jingle is great too.

Now todays show was really funny, especially about 8.30 when Carrie reveals why she can't have a bikini wax... I was crying at the traffic lights it was so funny!

I was walking to the shops to get my coco pops then and was pissing myself with laughter at that. Got some very weird looks from all the school kids walking to school who are now wondering who the hell Kojack was.

I absolutely agree, it was brilliant (although didn't she say she can't have a haircut because she's growing her hair for her wedding, so it'll have to be a bikini wax?)

Also did they play an instrumental for the cheesy song this morning? I thought they did, but I was still pretty much asleep, so I could be wrong.
