Interesting changes. I agree that JK and Joel haven't really worked on Radio 1. I thought they would, because I was a big fan when they were on commercial radio, but sadly there hasn't been a real chance for them to have a real go at a decent slot on daytimes. I agree they will move to Capital eventually, but they have their TV work in the interim.

I love the idea of putting Greg James in on earlies. He sounds quite like Wes, but as someone who works in student radio, it gives hope that Radio 1 are actually listening and the fact he can just be plucked out and given a daytime slot gives hope! However, bosses know that he isn't strong enough to hold an audience between 6 and 7 for Chris, so they have moved Chris earlier, which is obviously great news for everyone. 17 and a half hours of Moyles a week!

Dance Anthems being phased out is a shame, Nihal is sh*t and Fearne and Reggie little better. But then Radio 1 has always been awful at the weekends anyway.

I am OLD and radio one used to be excellent at the weekends, when it was Noel and DLT.....I hope they can get DLT for the 40 yrs celebration, but as he left by saying exactly what he thought of R1, somehow I feel he won't be asked - shame!

I always listen on listen again, so will just have to try to squeeze that in while I can!

I am guessing that getting a youngster straight out of University is the bosses way of "keeping it young" - whatever!!

Dick and dom. Don't deserve radio. They are kids presenters. Nothing else. Don't do anything really.
Fern and regi. The charts are a kids thing now. No seriousness in it now at all. Give scott mills the chart.

Most of the above comments seem to say that its a shame that JK and Joel are leaving. Does anyone know why?

Is it telly stuff or have the bosses that be decided that they aint good enough for Radio 1?

I doubt it's they're not good enough, as it would have been reported as so. Mostly TV reasons, plus there are no openings to move up in the R1 schedule so it'll be quite frustrating for them on earlies

Well I knew and Eric Morecambe died before my first birthday, not to mention the Two Ronnies stopped when I was about three. I thought it was common knowledge.

Haha I'm definitely not that. I'm weird really because there are some things you wouldn't expect me to know that I perhaps do and then some things that I probably (no, definitely) should know that I've got no idea about.

Morecambe and Wise were even longer before Reeves and Mortimer though!

Morecambe and Wise weren't trying to be anyone; they were their own act.

Although, I'd compare Ant and Dec more closely to Reeves and Mortimer than Morecambe and Wise; I don't think Ant and Dec can reach the same popularity and status that Morecambe and Wise enjoyed.
