Just seen this story, thought its always good to hear Moyles mentioned so here we go:

Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles managed to get unsigned singer Doug Walker a record deal after only play of his record.
Walker arrived at the Radio 1 studios early in the morning to hand the breakfast show DJ his single 'The Mystery' and Moyles ended up playing the tune near the start of his show.

Moyles told listeners: "Doug is outside Radio 1 if anyone wants to sign the guy," after the station were reportedly inundated with calls.

By 1pm the Manchester singer-songwriter was in talks with Universal records.

Talking about the incident, Walker told The Sun: "I gave Chris one of the first copies, then kept chatting to him when he came out for fag breaks."

If he goes with universal I think the story will end hapily ever after - shows that good can come out of pestering Dj's, even though its not likely to work for a little while now. I've listened to a couple on his Myspace and currently the only one that I really liked it the one Moyles played even if it does sound like a bit of a football song to begin with (the Chris Moyles world cup song has jumped into my head).

Yep, I can confirm a sighting of him here in my building two weeks ago at his sister's graduation ceremony. Annoyingly, I thought he looked quite cute.

As for Doug Walker, I think he's had a helluva lucky break. When Moyles played the song I was shocked and commented to my flatmate that he must be going soft in his old age. I would have expected him to either tell Walker where to stuff his cd, or bring it into the studio and play frisbee with it. I don't especially like the song, but it is memorable, so good luck to him.

Tis a fair point Ballbag that he may want some publicity but would he really do it through a musician and not by swearing on the radio or something outrageous?

You'd be surprised union man, any publicity is good publicty now matter how small or large.
In any case the book release is a while away yet... I'm sure there may be more Moyles headlines to come.
