This is what I'm trying to say S4B - I dont think the ones who died can be considered main characters.

So Snape and Voldemort weren't main characters at all?

I knew Snape would turn out good. That was all I cared about really. Although the fact that he was in love with Lily was a tad predictable.

I was also disappointed with the ending. She could have at least told us what the four of them had been up to in the 19 absent years (apart from sh*gging). Although I suppose it leaves scope for more just in case she does ever want to return to it.

Ooft spoiler central!

I know you may be daft opening it if you havent read the thing, but there are some dafties on here. Plus the thread has been going for a good long while.

As from your point -fair enough, I hadn't thought about it like that. I had assumed that it was gonna be the good guys getting written off. Everyone expects the bad guys to get whats coming to them.

... but tell him there are aliens in Aliens and he complains!

Genuine true story:

My mum's other half was working in a factory, about the time Titanic came out and the girl he worked with announced that she was going to see it. He said "what do you want to see that for, it's about a ship that sinks!", to which she replied "Oh, don't tell me the ending!"

I didn't promise anything about spoilers! Anyway, bits of it were spoilt for me anyway so more fool you if you havn't read it and you expect it not to be spoiled if you open this thread.

sidders, you can't have it both ways. you're the type of person who upon finding out that the tooth fairy doesn't exist (at age 12) runs out and tells as many 5 year olds as you can.

I can now safely come in here having finished it at the weekend. Although it is good I have to agree that the ending was pants. I agree with whoever it was who said that she chickened out of writing what she wanted...... two main characters die?????? Did they balls......to me there are 3 main characters in the book, and the rest are merely support characters. It was all just hype.

Also, I don't like the way they conveniently changed the entire prophecy that neither could live without the other, just to keep four-eyes alive. It was a bit of a lame explination too. It kind of spoilt it to me really.

Having said that though, on the whole it was good........ although the last chapter was superfluous.

Do you think the last chapter was added to try and stop either JK or other authors returning to the story in years to come, when the holiday fund has dried up?

That said, I suppose the characters could do something else between the end of Deathly Hallows and the last chapter.
