The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Radio 1 should approach Mark Goodier to return and present the chart show, ever since he left it has turned to what seems like a chat show and the chart itself struggles to get a look in. Goodier was no nonsense and I think bringing him back is the only way left to make it worth listening. So Radio 1, bring him back or ditch the chart altogether.

Its all about the music man who cares about numbers?

I have never listened to the chart. Why should I care who is most popular? I know what I like.

I quite like Scott doing the chart. JK and Joel are great though.

What did Goodier do that noone else can?

Surely its just reading out a bunch of songs quickly and managing to get them in time to the stabs in the music?

Sorry have to disagree there.

As for returns to Radio 1, I think Simon Mayo would be more worthy, or Mark and Lard (though neither will ever happen), or at least some of Mayo's features (Mystery years anyone? I spent many a boring morning lesson in 6th form listening to this feature)

I like Sara Cox, too!

It's Zilch to do with Goodier and everything to do with Radio 1 management I suspect. Radio 1 is now the most listened to chart though, where in the Goodier/Wes days it slipped from that crown so they must be doing something right

Get Goodier back?? The man is 46 years old... why would they do that?

Some people on here need to get a grip. Mayo, Mark and Lard as well.. they're gone and ain't coming back.

It would be nice if he returned for a one-off special to mark Radio 1's 40th anniversary in September providing his contract would allow it.

What we need is Mayo on Radio 2, and Mark and Lard on Radio 2........

As much as I love Mayo on 5 Live, add a bit of music...

Speaking of 5 Live, anyone hear Colin Murray filling in for Mayo today? Really good stuff.

The only show I have ever heard Colin Murray on and really not liked him was the afternoon show with Edith - but even there, now he's gone, I wish he was back. He is quite a broadcaster.

I agree Yudster. For some strange reason I used to think Colin was the weak link in Colin & Edith, but ever since he left the show has been worse for me. Colin, however, has gone from strength to strength in the past 18 month and is a really listanable quality DJ. Gone from one of my once loathed to now most liked

It's wierd how Colin on Five Live and Edith on Radio 1 are presenting seperately at the same time right now as I type.

I wonder if that could be classed as a coincidence (see alternative thread.......)

I don't think that's weird. It's hardly a one in a million chance.

Johnny Vaughan doing Fighting Talk: Any Other Business. He used to be brilliant on Fighting Talk (the only thing I have ever liked him on) but this is just rubbish.

I think its more the absolutely crap choice of panelists rather than Vaughan's fault. Vaguely amusing MPs and someone off Balls of Steel is hardly a grade comedy material for an hours radio

See I listened to the pilot of AOB with Bacon and it wasn't any better or worse than Vaughan's effort. Again th e poor guests were the problem IMO
