OK as a Moyles listener for years, and with his ratings seemingly increasing by the second, I wonder what would happen if the un thinkable were to happen and the ratings dropped.....................

Say 5 years from now, Moyles is losing listeners by the hundreds of thousands, and R1 decide enough is enough, the former golden boy has to go. Logically as he gets older, so do his listeners and the natural progression would be R2, but somehow, try as I might, I just can't imagine that happening. Also the thought of him DJ'ing on the likes of Heart, Magic, Virgin or any other tin pot station just wouldn't be right. Kind of DJ dementia, mixed with power rock ballads-just WRONG!!

So what do people think will happen, if or when his time is up at R1? Personally I hope he is setting wheels in motion right now for a radical career change, being prepared, so he can cruise seamlessly into it. Moyles at Virgin would be like Beckham at Stockport County! Or Dr Fox (Pox) at Magic :D Not that Fox and Moyles are in the same league-Moyles is worth 10 Dr Pox'!

If you're in your mid 30's and you've reached the top of your game, the only thing to do is diversify and change. Anything else is a step downwards.

Apologies if (A) It's been raised before, and (B) For using mainly London stations as examples!

Yes this is exactly the kind of thing that keeps him awake at this hour.

Hes a freelancer. But I am with you when you talk about radio 2 it just wouldnt be right, the guy doesnt wanna get older, comedy dave couldnt be more different dropping a sprog and hes much younger.

The only logical progression now or in the future is the good old box, not back in the box, no no. The telly box, the 'live with' days are firmly behind him too.

The book thing is cool, but I really cant see it continuing, him sat there on his arse tappin away with one hand and the other waving a muppet puppet around on webcam for his youtube fans.

In short, hes gotta throw his weight around, its what he was born for.

Radio 1 gave him a studio to do that, but he wont be able to be confined to a small radio studio forever....

i agree. But the telly can go hand in hand with Radio 2. Jonathan Ross's current set up would be the ideal kinda next step for Moyles.

Personally speaking (as an old fart)....I would be in heaven if he/they all moved tomorrow to something along the lines of talksport, under the BBC Umbrella though so we don't need to hear ads.
I think it's around 6 or so songs an hour that they play, for me it's too much. Lets face it, It's not the music that is making the ratings soar. I would do away with News/Sport/weather stuff, do we really need to hear it every 30 mins ? but keep Dom and Carrie for the input they supply, would also have Aled on the show full time and ofcourse Rachel and Dave. Maybe 2 or 3 songs an hour, to give them a toilet break or more importantly a smoke break. I feel Chris is more a "Radio Personality" than a "D.J."and should be given the creative freedom to mould his 3 hours as he sees fit, you can often hear the frustration when they are on a roll with whatever discussion but have to break it off to play a tune.

Gotta go, the arthritis in my hands making it harder to type and anyway my zimmer needs a polish

Some kind of TV show has to be the nexst step, but it could only work if he is given FULL control of guests and content, probably being the director / producer too lol

I miss his old tv show, and think he would excel in maybe another chat show, or a more themed show such as top gear..

He needs someone with TV experience alongside him for a bit. Its no suprise that his best TV has been X Factor and The Friday Night Project when he was basically a guest with other people presenting.

I agree, but, how many times would you really want to see Chris make a fool of himself singing? Sure it was great comedy ( sorry if you were being serious Chris 8) ) for one night, but all the time.. nahh

Unless he did some kind of talk show reversal, where he has differnet guests that are the host, interviewing Moyle's, that could have some giggle potential 8)

How about if he became the next Ricky Gervais - dreaming up brilliant new sitcoms, or sketch shows, whichever, I'm thinking along the lines of * it and pull it, he could still do Radio 2 if thats what he wanted (bearing in mind hes a radio maverick) on the side if he fancied calming down a bit.

It could be possible that the improvisational aspect of his show could be translated to the box in a style of 'Curb your Enthusiasm' where they just kind of roll with the general plot, I'm sure he'll stick with Comedy for years to come as each of their qualities compliment each other once they leave the drawing board.

I sound like I am constantly criticising but I do love the radio show. I don't think he is a comedy genius at all though I think hes a radio genius.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is amazing and I don't think Moyles ever has a chance of getting close to that. Nor do many others to be honest.
