S4B, I don't believe your kids "have" to do the 11-plus, thats a voluntary examination. My son took it because he wanted to try to gain a place at a particular school which selects on 11-plus exam criteria (he didn't). My daughter was happy to go to the school she was down for, so she didn't bother.

...Not all teenagers are..TOTAL retards.
I'm 19, and fair enough I DO use text talk and stuff, but thats only coz this is a forum where I go in my spare time. But to be fair, going to uni has been almost the biggest waste of money ever, I might as well have just moved to a different town for a few years. I still have one year left doing media production and I still don't knowthe full workings of a camera.

Oh and my geography is rubbish. Thats a fair point. But I've always been hopeless at geography, dropped it in year nine.

What else... Oh grammer...yea that...depends, sometimes, my spelling is worse than anything, BUT (I'm gunna be giving my self a stupid excuse) I'm chinese and my parents speak chinese to me. (It is no excuse really, I've never lived in China before...but I like it!)

I am a bit of a retard though....

Not accusing anyone of calling young people retards....thats just my wording.

To be honest, I don't think you can say that generally uni is a waste of money, I think the course choice (and I'm not saying yours, but sometimes) can prove to be the waste of money. Some of the pap you can enrol in today is ridiculous.

...pap?

I do have rubbish lecturers, who don't teach, actually, all they seem to do is critisise anything...popular, like Mr Chris Moyles. But they do say how hard he works, so its ok. Oh well, one year to go, then I can naff off and try find myself an actual job. But I'm not a bum, I do work.

this is so true! i know people who are taking out $60,000-$100,000 worth of loans to study english lit, art, philosophy and such. then they graduate and can't pay their loans because they can't get a job that pays more than $40,000 a year. it's totally stupid. i'm taking $60,000 for two years, but i'll hopefully be making that much when i graduate.

yeah, i know it's a little different over here, but it's pretty much the same thing. it's not to say an english major can't get a good job after uni. they need to have relevant background and internships though. i guess right now i'm getting a professional degree. i'll only be qualified for one vocation really, and that's all the degree is good for.
