I would never presume to tell JK Rowling what she should do with her time.

Ahem, I just started on this in the chat room but I feel I'll post it here instead. First I'd like to say I have no idea if Harry Potter as a series is what can be described as a 'good thing' in terms of the quality of the stories (in fact it's subjective anyway) and I won't be finding out because I have no intention of reading them. However, assuming it is a good thing, as lots of people seem to think, it is still possible to overdo a good thing so that it becomes less good, or even bad; and why would anyone want that to happen? Aside from that, JK Rowling has said (I know, I saw it on Jonathan Ross) that she does not wish to write any more Potter books and it's unlikely she ever will again.

Trust me she does and her die hard fans (me included) will love them.

Ah I must have missed that bit, I didn't hear it. You can still overdo a good thing though.

Can I ask how old is Harry Potter at the start of these books and how old is he at the end of the last one? Surely the point of it is that it documents his years at this wizard school, well he must be getting a bit old for school.

So they can't do many more, unless they follow him into adult life, which is really a completely different series of books altogether, surely? And totally different and may even fall flat on it's face.

S4B wrote:Ah but she said that after the last book too, that she didn't feel like writing the next at the moment.

My feeling when I read the last one was that she hadn't wanted to write that. It felt like she was fulfilling a contract. She started out as a childrens author and has ended up as a movie franchise. I'm not surprised her books are beginning to seem jaded.

Up there with the people who joined the Sun's "Save Deidre" campaign a coupla years back. Many of these same people at the time complained that I got into wrestling "because it's fake"... the number of times I replied with an annoyed "Well so's (insert name of Soap that they watch religiously here)" and watched their faces drop as they shut up... priceless.

So everyone who hates wrestling is automatically a soap fan? Hmm. That means I either watch wrestling or soaps in my sleep!

No, just that MANY I have encountered who criticise wrestling for fakeness are the same people who watch soaps and do stuff like the whole "Save Deidre" stuff.

The Harry Potter books are so far fetched. I mean I can buy the fact that magic exists, maybe even unicorns but have you ever seen a ginger kid with 2 mates?!?!
