'Comedy' Dave does not have a voice for radio. He sounds like the school sneak who will stick by whoever is 'in power' and agree with everything they say whilst immediately getting over-defensive as soon as they feel critisized. All he does is bask in Chris's glory! On the Weakest Link he came across as really full of himself whenever he got a question right, and there were no laughs with Chappers (who, by the way, is lovely, and the complete opposite of Dave who takes himself far too seriously).

Rant over, but I just had to say it as he irritates me every time he speaks. Luckily the rest of the team make up for it.

I don't agree either. Dave often has 'rows' with Chris on air, or at least he used to a lot.

I think this is a UM invader. I disagree completely, I like Dave's voice, it's quite calming. He doesn't always agree with Chris but the fact they're such good friends mean that they must have lots in common so are bound to agree a lot. If he irritates you Anon don't listen.

Oh and if you haven't got the balls to identify yourself I don't think you are entitled to an opinion on here.

Chris described Dave's voice as 'droll' today, but Dave wasn't in the least offended. He may be a little monosyllabic but his contributions to the show far outweigh the sound of his voice, IMHO. Sometimes he earns his nickname but I can understand how he could wind some people up. I do think the comment about him sounding like the 'school sneak' is a bit strong. Whatever he's doing seems to have worked for the last ten years or so.

Why would he be? "Droll" means amusing.

I think its a bit easy and simplistic to cast Chris as the significant talented one and Dave as the desperate hanger on. I don't think anything in the show actually backs up that viewpoint, and don't think it ever has, but you can see how someone who maybe doesn't quite "get" the dynamic of the show, or for whatever reason, would decide to use it as a missile - its too obvious though, and it doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
