When I used to work in safeway, i was the voice on the tannoy.

I spent a whole morning at christmas shouting that Bernard Mannings turkey drumsticks were going cheap (cheep - get it?).

I didnt realise.

I felt like a tit.

Everyone else thought I was doing it on purpose.

Someone I know got Manning / Matthews mixed up in the pub tonight.

My mum's boyfriend knew a bloke once that did a bit of stand up and he did a gig at Manning's club; he did his rehearsals in front of Manning, who went on to steal the bloke's entire act before he went on. How gutting would that be.

Manning or Matthews - interchangeable on the "can't stand them" scale. Neither of them ever made me laugh and both of them did disgusting things to earn a living. One of them still does I suppose.

Have you heard he wrote his own obit saying he didn't care if he'd offended people he'd do the same thing again? gross man. Never made me laugh but then I only saw him once and switched off very quickly.

Just LOVE the way you seem to compare the two, as if they go hand-in-hand!

Chubby Brown never made me laugh either. And I find him repulsive to look at, actually makes me feel a bit ill, so I'm quite pleased he is unfunny and I am not tempted to watch him.

Hmmm three women sharing a dislike of Chubby brown, how surprising. You chick's don't know what you're on about, probably because your brains are smaller. The man's a genius.

I think it was an era that will be sorely missed when politics didn't ruin entertainment. Let the old pros continue living in the time they knew and were brought up in, thinking about it, I don't blame them for rebelling against all this identity politics today.

"And as I look down now on all the over-paid executives who have made such a mess of television and undermined true comedy, and as I sense the affection from the mass of the British public, I know that I am the one having the last laugh."

Its not the non-PC aspect I object to, its the delivery. I don't like watching fat slimy men wearing tons of make up sweating like pigs on stage with pints in their hands telling jokes my great grandad would have known.

So you don't like Peter Kay either?
