following on from a chat in the chatroom tonight does anyone play an instrument or tried to play one and failed? I play flute but always wanted to play piano but my hands were too small.

I believe this has been covered before, probably with reference to Topher's boy band, but I can't be sure. Anyways I can play the piano, guitar, I dabble with the harmonica, as I do with the drums (Mrs Ballbag wont let me get a kit) and I have also mastered the willy banjo.

Now that you mention it, I think you're right.

Anyway, I used to play the cornet but gave up. My cousin is possibly the world's only 'sk8tr boi' wannabe rocker chav who is also a cellist.

I sometimes play the double bass on the current Mrs Ballbag, she loves it.

I'm sure she does. Sure this thread'll turn into something useful, for got about Topher's boyband although I think "blanked it" may be closer to the truth.

I am a pretty decent singer, I've done studio session work in the past, also play violin and flute. Miss Yudster is shaping up to be a rather good singer too, and she also plays alto saxaphone which I really want to have a go at.

One of the most tone deaf musically illiterate people I have ever met is Welsh. But there's always an exception! I went to the Llangollen festival once, it was mind blowing.

I love Llangollen it's just a wonderful eisteddfod. Although I've never sung there I have at the youth Eisteddfod and the national, it humbled my own feelings about my singing ability

I also came away from there thinking I had been kidding myself! We were outside, and the natural acoustics in the valley are incredible. Everything sounded so good!

My main musical talent is the vocals (although that's mostly self-professed), but I can also play the piano/keyboard, the drums (simple beats) and despite never taking any lessons in it, the recorder.

everyone says they can play the recorder but very few play it well. However Console your musical talents are impressive. Can all the Console's play so well?

I learned some guitar at school. When it got complicated (ie, chords) I got bored so I started sitting at the back and faking. Wish I hadn't now, but such is life. They wanted me to start violin lessons too (we did a test of our 'ear for music' and I came top), but I'd heard the violin players at school concerts and they sounded like cats wailing, so I refused. Again, kinda wish I hadn't. The only thing I'd like to learn now is piano, but you need to own one really, and I don't have the space or cash.
