In a spin-off from the "Flatmate from Heaven" thread, what kind of person would YOU like to live with? What kind of character qualities would they have to possess?

I'd like to live with:

1. A clean person.
2. A person with a really good sense of humour, even in a crisis.
3. A logical person.

My perfect flat mate must have the following three qualities

1. Must be female
2. Must be good loking with a good body
3. Must fancy the pants off me

(in fact, I already have the above)

The bloke I live with is in a lot of ways an ideal flatmate:

he's easygoing
he does the washing up
he also likes Lost
he gets on with my pet rats
he knows how to download obscure TV shows, songs and films and burn them onto discs for me
he earns a lot more money than me and so will sub me for food and bills when I'm broke

his downsides are:
he's a bit deaf and so I continually have to repeat myself (I've taken to just saying things in three-word summaries, rather than whole sentences, cos I know I'll have to repeat it)
he's kinda forgetful
he buys takeaways and chips when I'm trying to diet (this is something of a mixed blessing)

so all in he's pretty good to live with. sometimes I think it would be good to live with a girl whose shoes and clothes I could steal, but generally I think I'm happier living with a bloke, less bitchy.

I used to have pet rats. They were very cool.

I have two called Gilligan and Gabriel. My housemate is just as happy as I am to let them run around on the sofa when we're watching TV, altho not so much when they chew holes in the hems of his t shirts and his belts.

there is no way ON THIS EARTH I would be in possession of RATS.

Well, I love them. They are intelligent, friendly and endlessly amusing. They're my babies (tho I must stress I don't talk to them in a baby voice). If Dan didn't love them too it would be a real issue in the flat.

Don't they just crap everywhere? I'm with viv on this one, can't stand rats. They're just too scratchy and fast.

Not at all. They are very clean animals. Never, ever crap when they're out running around unless they get really scared by something, and they're not easily scared once they're tame. they are fast tho, and sometimes their paws are scratchy. I had them both in my arms the other day and got scratches all over my chest for my trouble! :D

I like rats because unlike the other "small furries", they actually relate back to you. Rabbits are cute but stupid, hamsters are vicious and hate to be handled, gerbils stink and hate to be handled - rats are clean, intelligent and they actually enjoy being your pet. They are trainable - they will come when you call, and really enjoy your company. The only other small pets which come close are guinea pigs.

As pets, I'd only ever have a doggie (a Spaniel I would call "Sam" after Sam Tyler from Life on Mars). I once had a terrapin called "bubbles".

I can't see the attraction of terrapins, though i suppose theyre not too high maintainence. At the moment we've got two half greyhound dogs, who're lovely but stupid. I used to have rats and they're brilliant pets. One of mine used to sit on my shoulder when i went to the local shop and everything.

My terrapin was a genius. Really. A super brain. It was so much smarter than me.

I couldn't wake it up one morning, and my mum had said she would bin it, which caused me to go into a very large mountain of tears!

Well put it this way, I've been in a shared house in some way most of my life (23 years with family) and the one I live in now, most of the house is fine except;
There's one guy who occasionally takes other's food outta the fridge (we have this narrowed down to 2 suspects)
One guy washes his stuff, but leaves it piled in the sink, OR leaves it in the sink and only washes when he uses it again.

so I would consider stuff like that to be BAD.
It IS an all-male house though, which probably ain't a good thing in itself.

This said, I'm VERY glad that at the end of the month I move into a place on me tod.

Good luck in your new place! Remember to put some wind chimes outside it, to attract positive energy!

Or to irritate the neigbours, ours went on holiday and all week we had the annoying chimes from next door, so I went around and gaffer taped the things together.......... silence is golden. So where in Nottingham will your new stables be Mr Ed?

the lodger we have must be some sort of housemate from hell. Never washes up, occasionally takes our food, but worst of all; gets drunk and sings New Model Army songs. Despite that he does have a really nice motorbike and we need his money.

Next time he gets drunk, sell his motorbike. He'll never notice, he was p1ssed.

I think I am his lost twin (though I don't like Lost.)

Mrs Topher and I are looking at getting a place together now. We want to rent at first, so we make sure we can live together before we buy.
