Nottingham's supposed to be grim isn't it? The only people i've met from there are a lesbian(coincidence) and a smelly man who played the whistle. I don't know if that's representitive of the place. They had silly accents though.

The previous ballbag manor was in Nottingham, and I can say that I enjoyed my time there. The problem is it gets quite a bad rap from the press. There are some crappy parts, but all citys have them. I think it's lovely personally. The men : women ratio thing is a myth though, or at least you can't tell anyway.

Interesting that you, clara thingy, a resident of Birmingham, find the accents of Nottingham as you say...... silly.

I didn't say that Birmingham accents wern't silly. I've only been living here just over a year, but i'm starting to get used to them now. Local news programmes can still be a challenge though.

I was born in Peckham, but moved to Brighton when i was a baby, so Brighton really as thats where i grew up.

My mum goes there to do her Christmas shopping every year. I'm in Burgess Hill this weekend, so not too far away, but far enough.

Nice countryside around there. If you go down the road to Hassocks, there are a couple of decent pubs.

One of the nicest pubs in that area has fairly recently gone right downhill, since the owners sold it to a pub/restaurant chain - that was the Bolney Stage, at Bolney, where my brother in law used to be head chef. Used to be fabulous, now - not so much. When they sold up there, they took a place called The Crabtree In at Lower Beeding. If you're in the area, give it a try - the food is seriously good, I know he's my brother in law, but Dave is a very good chef. beginning to be recognised by the industry now, which is always nice too.

That huge shopping centre in Crawley is a scary place also. Avoid that.

Aaaaah, right in the middle of the square-about, about 200 yards from said "scary shopping centre". If you get on a downer whilst down there and want to feel good about yourself, go down the Couty Mall for a bit of "actually I am quite lucky".
