The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Bag for balls wrote:You see, in terms of things to see and places to go in the world, New York is way way down my list, (as is America really) which is why I'll probably never go there. There are too many other things to see and do in the world without visiting a country with no real history past the last 200 years. Discuss.

No love :-) We can't help our history is fresh but I promise you would have a good time.

Bargain. I have never had any desire to go to America really. Theres lots of European Cities I want to visit first. Plus Bury is only just up the road who needs New York?

Alaska is beautiful - I hope to go back one day. Northern Exposure was the real reason I went. Everyone is super laid back just like the show.

Is there much to see / do in Bury then?

I'm planning a weekend in York fairly soon, what's Bury like? Or was that a sarcastic comment...? I'm no good at northern cities so I can't tell!

I'm not into baseball.

Apparently the first NFL match outside North America is going to be at the new Wembley... how would that work, surely it's like the American (or North American) league, how can they play outside that?

I think Germany is a possibility too. Desperate sports have to do odd things..

now that i have satellite, i can watch the european american football league. it's crazy, but somewhat popular in germany. i blame it on all the american army bases.

american professional sports teams have played games outside the country as a marketing stunt. the houston rockets and some other team played an nba game in china because of yao ming. and baseball teams have been going to japan for ages.

Kendra did you know that the USA still hold the Olympic gold medal for Rugby a game hardly played in the states? After they won it they removed it as a competition from the games.

i did know that, actually. my university has the best rugby club in the country and there are a lot of expats who play around here, so rugby has an odd presence in the bay area.

Rugby=good. But you're Welsh, it would seem - how is Gavin Henson a real man?!

That's why he's been dropped from the main squad - in spite of the fact he's gone to Australia - cos he's not a REAL man. And I didn't actually say that all men who play rugby are real MEN I said real MEN play rugby, there's always the exception to prove the rule!

Real men don't play rugby union full stop - they play League.

Only because they can't manage to grasp the rules of the proper game.

No, I don't mean it really, I'm a happy League convert now, have been for a few years.

OOH so not true, League players wear padding o protect themselves and don't get into rucks and mauls it's just wrong!
