Darn Sarf brigade??? just call them Posh!
I'm from Somerset, and if you say Bath here, in a Somerset accent, it rhymes with Laugh.

"You only put R's in bath when you're getting in it!"

Anyhoo, heres a simple poem from a simple man :P

Bag for balls wrote:Ooooh controversial, "put" may rhyme with "flute" in Scottish, but it doesn't in English. 5 out of 10.

How do you englishers say Put then ?

"poot" is how it sounds!
Which easily rhymes with Zoot and Flute!

Im trying to think of a way
As I sit on My butt
That, In England we Say
That word; you know; PUT
I keep thinking, but Hey!
I feel such a Mutt
I'll be sat here all day,
Oh! Im in such a Rut!
A horse would say "Neigh,
Give it up you damned Nut,
And get me some Hay,
To fill my fat Gut".
Oh this doesn't Pay,
I need more of a cut.

Sod it,
Im going on E-bay
to buy me a Hut.

See Put doesn't rhyme with any of those lines! Try again, it's more like poot with the second o a bit shorter than the first I think but even that doesn't sound quite right!

Quite correct, although they do rhyme better than zoot or flute.

I know that's how Put is pronounced by Scots, so using a bit (okay quite a lot) of artistic licence I 'penned' that, but really can't think of anything that rhymes with Put.

Ah well, wev!

Is beginning to annoy me that I can't explain to footy how it's pronounced! I may have to consult the oracle that is the OED! Not now cos I can't be bothered to move! Maybe tomorrow.

Well, up here, put would sound like POOT and would easily rhyme with flute (FLOOT).

Ach, I thought you had gone to bed.

It ryhmed enough for the purposes of passing on well wishes to the pregnant Pinky.

I'm going to bed.

Agreed.

Its a Wednesday and I feel like sh*te
Its all dark when it should be all light
There are clouds in the sky
And I think, by and by,
It may rain. Yes, I think that it might.

Oh, I think I knew that one - I was thinking outside the wrong box though, with my blue-sky hat on and ready to process everyones inputs. Its a strategic implementation of the integration rationale which requires joined-up processing and a theme mapped aspiration route.
